Collaborating organisation: Colour My World We invite you to join Neon Metropolis Workshop, a collaborative community installation inspired by the Vital Signs exhibition. Conceptualised and led by Colour My World, the visual art workshop is for families to get creative together. Come along as a pair of a child aged above 6 and a grandparent/parent, they might have some special memories of Hong Kong’s neon-lit past!
Pay tribute to our city’s legendary neon masters of the 70s and 80s by bringing your paper-craft building facades to life using fluorescent and neon colours. Contribute your newly-created neon building to become part of the collaborative cityscape installation, Neon Metropolis. As the community effort builds and the installation grows, a dazzling neon city emerges. Hong Kong’s ever-changing landscape is also reflected in the display of Neon Metropolis with newer designs replacing older ones. You will also take home a memento of your arts experience.
Before joining our workshop on the day, make sure you take a walk at the Vital Signs exhibitions to be inspired by the extraordinary craftmanship by the neon masters.

very good cultural event, can see Hong Kong’s history
After finishing, the work must be kept for display and will not be returned. It is a very strange arrangement, and it is only made with fluorescent paper, not real neon light tubes.
a bit too rush, but the workshop is good
The children thought it was fun, so she chose to make the Peninsula Center, which is very representative of Hong Kong, but it was a pity that the father did not help the children to take pictures
Participating in the workshop after watching the exhibition gave the children a deep understanding. Finally, they can exhibit their own works, which gives them a sense of success! Thank you to the organizer for preserving the light and beauty of Hong Kong!
Great event and an opportunity to design one’s building and join an installation.
After watching the exhibition, I went to a workshop, which fits well with the theme. The children had fun, and the works became part of the exhibition. The children felt very satisfied!
There was a gap between my imagination and my imagination. I thought I would have the opportunity to touch neon lights, but it turned out that I was just drawing on drawing paper. Even if the children only created on drawing paper, they enjoyed it a lot, but the instructor kept urging them throughout the process, from the first step to the end. , every step is urging, and finally can only be completed hastily, the experience is average
Good and professional teachers for kids. We can learn more about HK from the workshop.
You can design and display it by yourself, it is very interesting, and the children are very satisfied
