What to expect
This is a Kamakura day trip that switches between history, coast, and youthful memories.
- First, step into the symbol of the ancient capital—the Kamakura Great Buddha. The bronze Amitabha Tathagata sits quietly in Kotoku-in Temple, maintaining its original appearance after more than 700 years of wind and rain. Unlike the Buddha statues that have been repaired many times in later generations, the Kamakura Great Buddha has been preserved almost in its original state, with a peaceful and restrained expression. Standing in front of the Buddha, you can feel the calmness and strength left by the samurai culture of the Kamakura period, and you can’t help but slow down.
- Then walk to Hase Station and experience the representative Enoden 🚋. The tram travels between houses and the coast, and the outside of the window is the blue sea line of Shonan and the daily scenery of Kamakura streets. This journey is not just transportation, but more like a movie lens, carrying countless people’s imagination of Kamakura.
- A short stay in front of Kamakura High School is a station that many people cannot skip. The classic location of “Slam Dunk” still retains the familiar intersection and sea view. In the tinkling railway warning bell, youthful memories seem to be gently awakened 🏀. People who come here take not only pictures, but also their once-blooded selves.
- Take a car tour of Shonan Coast, where the sea breeze, the sound of waves, and the distant skyline intertwine into a relaxing rhythm. This is the freest side of Kamakura and the background for countless stories.
- Then go to Enoshima. From ancient legends to the center of faith in the Edo period, this small island combines mythology, history, and island customs. Visit Enoshima Shrine, stroll along the island’s trails, you can feel the faith culture of Benzaiten, and you can also overlook the sea view of Shonan, so that you can relax naturally.
- Finally, come to Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine. As the spiritual core of the Kamakura shogunate, it is solemn and open, with different scenery in all seasons. Then stroll through Komachi Street, taste local snacks and select special souvenirs in the lively old street, drawing a gentle end to this Kamakura trip.

The day before departure, Klook provided us with the guide's information and contact details, and the guide answered all our questions, which put my mind at ease. Since there weren't many participants, our group was a combined Chinese and Korean tour. Our guide was amazing, speaking Japanese, Chinese, and Korean fluently! During introductions and explanations, sometimes he'd speak Korean first, sometimes Chinese first, showing no favoritism, which was fantastic! Besides doing an excellent job with his guiding duties, he also gave us little tips for traveling in Japan, like where to eat, the best places to shop, and must-buy items. He was truly a five-star guide! This wonderful guide was Kim Myung-cheol, and I highly recommend him!
Incredible experience with Allan, our guide from Gogoday! Despite having a huge group of 40+ people from 15 different countries on a busy Golden Week Sunday (which Allan rightly called Mission Impossible), he handled it flawlessly. Allan was incredibly organized, providing detailed briefings and tailored recommendations for every stop. He also set up a dedicated chatgroup for easy communication and answered all our questions patiently. Also kudos to the group for being punctual throughout the tour, allowing us to cover everything. Highly recommend this fast-paced, value for money tour if your want to make the most of your trip!
The itinerary is good but just tooooo much walking! Really enjoyed Kamakura and Enoshima very well! Our guide walks too fast, it would be better if he slowed down a bit so that we can enjoy the place more. Also, it's okay to go back around 7pm as long as we have enjoyed the place. On this day trip to the warehouse, I was very fortunate to meet the experienced tour guide, Mr. Kim Myung-cheol, who added many precious memories to my journey. From the beginning, Mr. Kim shared numerous stories about the background of the attractions and local customs, which made the trip much more interesting. At each site, he proactively helped guests take photos and recommended century-old restaurants for lunch, allowing us to savor local specialties. Mr. Kim also emphasized punctuality for meeting times, repeatedly reminding everyone to gather at the designated spot on time to avoid affecting other travelers' itineraries, showing great responsibility. The return journey was not wasted either; he provided interesting introductions, even mentioning popular items at Japanese convenience stores, and encouraged us to discover things for ourselves. There was even a small surprise at the end. The guide was professional, enthusiastic, and fully engaged throughout the entire trip. Thank you very much!
It was a wonderful trip with Zhu Li, a very kind, patient, and attentive guide. Thanks to him and the company, we saw the amazing place of Kamakura and Enoshima Island, with picturesque views. If you're a fan of the anime Slamdunk, then this trip is a must. I was so happy to see in person the railway and train station in Kamakura featured in the opening credits of Slamdunk. Our tour guide, Allan Tan, was funny and entertaining. Though the trip was a bit fast-paced, he made sure we covered everything in the itinerary. I also enjoyed going to the Enoshima Island and the food there was great as well. All in all, I recommend joining this tour.
