- Affected section for overhaul: If the Tianmen Mountain Grand ropeway (urban ropeway lower station to the summit section) undergoes regular safety inspections or temporary maintenance, this 7.4-kilometer section of the grand ropeway will suspend operation.
- Temporary Alternative Route: During maintenance, the Line A tour will be adjusted to "Eco-bus + Express ropeway" for ascending the mountain (i.e., take a shuttle bus from the city to Tianmen Mountain Gate - then transfer to the express ropeway to Tianmen Cave/mountain top).
- Impact on scenic spots: The mountaintop scenic area, Tianmen Cave, Guigu Plank Road, and Glass Skywalk are all open for normal sightseeing; only the uphill transportation has changed.
- Cancellation and Change Notice: If scenic area transportation is temporarily adjusted due to maintenance or severe weather, this falls under the scenic area's safety operation regulations. Full refunds or compensation applications based on this reason are not supported. Please confirm your understanding before placing an order.
- Tour Route A: Take the ropeway from the downtown ropeway lower station to the mountain top; visit the mountain top; take the escalator down to Tianmen Cave; climb 999 steps down to Tianmen Cave or take the escalator down; after visiting Tianmen Cave, take the express line down to the mountain gate; take the scenic shuttle bus back to the ropeway lower station.
- Tour Route B: Take the scenic shuttle bus from the downtown ropeway lower station to the Tianmen Mountain gate ticket office - take the express ropeway to the top of Tianmen Cave. After visiting Tianmen Cave, take the escalator to the mountain top (or climb 999 steps up the mountain - take the escalator up to visit the mountain top - take the ropeway down the mountain and return to the ropeway lower station).
- Tour Route C: Take the scenic shuttle bus from the downtown ropeway lower station to the Tianmen Mountain gate ticket office - take the express ropeway to Tianmen Cave to the mountain top; after visiting Tianmen Cave, take the escalator to the mountain top (or climb 999 steps up the mountain - take the escalator up to visit the mountain top - visit the mountain top - then return to the express ropeway - take the scenic shuttle bus back to the ropeway lower station (this route does not include the 7455-meter long ropeway, which is generally open during peak season).

A one-day self-guided tour of Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area (Route B) was truly a breathtaking journey. Taking the world's longest high-altitude ropeway slowly up the mountain, I overlooked Zhangjiajie city and the valley, with clouds and mist swirling like a fairyland. The ropeway wound its way up, and the views gradually opened up, with distant mountains like paintings and nearby scenery like screens, filling me with joy. Upon reaching the summit, the magnificent Tianmen Cave came into view—a colossal natural stone archway, awe-inspiring and a testament to nature's extraordinary craftsmanship.
Walking on the glass skywalk was a heart-pounding challenge. Beneath my feet, a sheer drop offered both thrill and excitement, while also providing stunning views of the valley. The design of the pathways along the route was well-planned, allowing for both thrilling experiences and safe enjoyment of the scenery. Following Route B, I passed through Guigu Plank Road and Tianmen Temple. Guigu Plank Road, built along the mountain, was winding and precarious yet incredibly beautiful; Tianmen Temple, on the other hand, was serene and solemn, with incense smoke curling upwards, bringing a sense of peace. This itinerary offered both natural grandeur and cultural depth.
Descending the mountain by bus on the winding mountain road, we navigated the 99 bends of the 'Heaven-Linking Avenue,' a thrilling and memorable experience. Overall, this trip was not only a visual feast but also an unforgettable and wonderful memory, fully showcasing the majestic beauty and charm of Tianmen Mountain.

super essygoing and very easy to go all the way up even with the current work on the cablecar for Line A. You just have to take a bus which is also a very fun experience! I spent about 4 hours on the spot and it was incredible. Just warning you that you might have to add extras for escalators, glass pathways and think of bringing food/water as everything is 2 times more expensive all the way up!

A magical place. We spent about 6 hours there, and you need to be good on your feet, as despite escalators and cable cars, you'll climb many stairs and walk breathtaking paths around the mountains. A truly great experience.

The most incredible experience! Amazing views! We experienced both downpours and sunshine, and we can say that it's worth going for the experience no matter the weather! Plan at least 6-7 hours to have enough time to go up and complete part of the route. We recommend route "A".

Facilities: The entire cableway to the summit is closed for a long time for renovations. I think today the best option is Line B.

Departure at 7:30 AM. It's better to go early. By the time I came back, everyone was lining up, walking up the stairs, and taking the escalator. Plus, the morning is less foggy and more beautiful! I chose course B, and it was comfortable on the way back. The glass skywalk charges an extra 5 yuan for shoe covers. Personally, I think you can enjoy the scenery more sweetly by taking the stairs.

Unfortunately, it was foggy until 2 PM, so we couldn't fully enjoy the scenery or the glass bridges. Despite this, once the enormous gate in the mountain above the 999 steps appeared, the sight was breathtaking. The circuit at the very top is short. Take your time to enjoy the walk and don't hesitate to visit and recharge at the temples. I recommend climbing the 999 steps because the seven giant escalators inside the mountain are terribly slow. We used them to descend because we were worried the steps might be slippery. It's a shame that the last section of the cable car was under maintenance. But that's a good sign, it shows that the infrastructure is well-maintained. We went on August 28th, and there were a lot of people. The view from the cable car is spectacular. The mountains are even more impressive with a bit of distance and a viewpoint from below.

amazing experience! beautiful views. plenty of different activities. plan your route if you want to enjoy the fullest. just consider a full day for this visit. there are three different levels so have a map. there are many shops at the top but it wouldn't be a bad idea to take food and water with you. we bought ticket line B and it was amazing. it included two cable cars, one mountain elevator ride and one bus in the 99 curves route.
