"Unreal Views, but a Logistics and Crowd Nightmare"The Good:The scenery is absolutely mind-blowing. Seeing the floating karst pillars in person looks exactly like Avatar and photos do not do it justice. Walking along the Golden Whip Stream at the valley floor was a peaceful highlight, and the views from Tianzi Mountain are unforgettable. The Bad:The crowd management is exhausting. Even during the shoulder season, we faced massive tour groups, loud megaphones, and pushing in lines. We waited nearly 90 minutes just for a 2-minute ride on the Bailong Elevator. The Reality Check:This is not a relaxing nature hike. It is a highly commercialized, physically demanding theme park for mountains. You will walk thousands of concrete steps.Top Tips:Get to the gates by 7:00 AM or face brutal lines.Download an offline translator app; English signage and English-speaking staff are rare.Do not forget your physical passport, or they will not let you in.
The Zhangjiajie scenic area is divided into four sections: Zhangjiajie (Huangshizhai ropeway) (southern entrance to the Golden Whip Stream Canyon), Yangjiajie (Yangjiajie ropeway) (western entrance), Yuanjiajie (Bailong Elevator) (central eastern entrance), and Tianzi Mountain (Tianzi Mountain ropeway) (northeastern eastern entrance). Choosing a multi-pass ticket for the ropeways and elevators over four days is the best option, as it truly takes four days to explore all the plank roads in each section. Also, the weather may not be the same every day. Without multi-pass ropeway and elevator access, it's difficult to connect the attractions in each section using the eco-friendly shuttle buses to see everything.
easy to redeem…worth to go!!! just need to walk a lot and many staircases. so it might no so suitable for old people or people travel with small baby. we really enjoy the park and spent around 5 hours to walk one big round. the foods selling inside the park is very expensive, you can bring some dry foods or cup noodles, they provide hot water in some resting point l, so can save some money. cable car is fantastic definitely will go again experience: ease of booking on Klook:
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is another world!!! So far, this has been the best experience of my entire trip to China. I was completely mesmerised by such incredible beauty — those mountains make you dream, and you simply cannot stop admiring them. The package I purchased included all the rides, so it was definitely worth it. In my case, I stayed at a small hotel near the West Gate, which really helped make my experience at the park even better, as the East Gate is far more crowded. I entered the park at around 7:00 am and didn’t leave until about 6:30 pm, so take that into account if you really want to make the most of your visit. There is so much to see that you can easily spend the entire day exploring. Tip: I only used my entrance ticket for one day, but the ticket actually covers up to four days. If you have the time, plan your trip ahead so you can explore the park over several days and enjoy even more of it. Without a doubt, the best experience of my trip to China so far!
Wonderful park with breathtaking scenery at every turn. Arm yourself with a map and plan in advance which areas to visit because it is truly immense. If, like me, you intend to enter it for two days (even though the ticket is valid for 4), I advise you (unlike what I did) to buy the basic ticket and, if necessary, add the various means of transport not included later (in the end you should save a little). Absolutely a must-see!!!
It's good. Besides the park entrance fee, you also have to pay for your transportation up and down. In our case, both were via the Bailong Elevator, so we each paid an extra 20 USD. Perhaps that's a bit expensive. The rest is fine. The Avatar Mountains are interesting. Price: The full combo is a bit expensive if we compare it to other attractions in China.
Absolutely amazing. We got lost several times and it was hard to get help due to language barrier but it all added to the adventure. weather wasn’t the best for us but still had a great time. figured out you needed to take 3 buses to get back down the hill and have to go to the correct place or you’ll end up going in circles 🤪. mountains are phenomenal, easy to get around, great food options. amazing
It's worth seeing. I went from the East Gate and then to Yuanjiajie → East Gate → Tianzi Mountain. There are many people going to Yuanjiajie, so I was able to get there without getting lost at first. I went to Tianzi Mountain for the cable car and McDonald's. If you book a hotel, some hotels may send you a message asking if you would like them to book your tickets. I bought my tickets here, but I've heard that it's cheaper to buy them at the hotel, so you may want to consider that. There are many restrooms. I am prone to motion sickness, so I brought Ryukakusan throat lozenges and mint tablets. It's a mountain road, so it's quite bumpy. I was right to bring them. I saw people who were getting motion sickness. The staff told me to take the Yuanjiajie → East Gate bus to get from Yuanjiajie to Tianzi Mountain, explain to the driver, and have them drop me off. It's quite a walk from where they drop you off to Tianzi Mountain. It looks close on the map, but it's not. To avoid wasting energy, go back to the East Gate first. It's dangerous. There seemed to be a bus from Yuanjiajie to Tianzi Mountain, but if you don't know, I recommend returning to the East Gate.

Guide

  • Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, divided into areas such as Huangshizhai, Golden Whip Stream, Yuanjiajie, Yangjiajie, Tianzi Mountain, and Suoxiyu, is a core attraction that cannot be missed when visiting Zhangjiajie.
  • Flying waterfalls and streams can be seen everywhere, and the scenery is breathtaking. The floating mountains "Hallelujah Mountains" in the movie "Avatar" were also filmed here.
