Harborside: Mooring in the Memories of a Rainy Port City
- Keelung is a city where the rich maritime atmosphere can be felt through smell, sight, and sound. Upon arriving, the strong scent of the sea is immediately noticeable. Surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing the ocean on the other, the harbor has laid the foundation for the city's development. Encircling the harbor, the east and west coasts narrate the transformations of Keelung Port from a century ago to the present, shaped by the development of various eras and the construction efforts of different groups.
- From a simple fishing village, Keelung has evolved into one of Taiwan's modern ports. The construction of cargo wharves and railway systems has turned the gears of Keelung Port's operations, elevating it to once being the seventh-largest international port in the world. Various industrial clusters have emerged in response, unfolding the diverse facets of the port.
- Red brick houses covered in vines conceal stories of American soldiers. International trends and high-end imported goods became synonymous with Keelung, and the "Entrusted Goods" district flourished, becoming a legendary alleyway in Keelung. Explore the unique harbor secrets of the "1980s River Canal" and the "Century-Old Air Raid Shelter" as we stroll through the city's textures.
Light & Melody: Nostalgia and Harbor Life in Music
- Keelung Port has welcomed and bid farewell to various groups, while also carrying the nostalgia of different communities. Immigrant culture has drifted here and taken root, with the lingering sounds of Beiguan and Nanguan music echoing in the temples located along the harbor. Keelung Port, which once operated 24 hours a day, has alleyways where karaoke bars sing the heartfelt voices of dockworkers after a drink, beneath the bustling facade of Keelung Port. Emotions of departure and separation are expressed through different songs and sounds, archiving the historical memories of Keelung Port. Very touching itinerary! The depth of the tour and the enthusiasm for city betting ~ Let us who were lucky enough to participate in the event to fall in love with this city! I am very lucky to register during the Zhongyuan Festival event, so I have to learn more about the importance of this victory in Keelung! Looking forward to participating in other guided tours
Keelung is very close, but very unfamiliar. It’s a great experience to get to know the Keelung harbor and the alleys.
Very good itinerary, visited the alleys and air-raid shelters that Keelung would not go to, and also provided grass tea, but it is very hot, so pay attention to sun protection
The guide is very detailed and very professional. I also invite everyone to have bubble tea, and I can see the local people's enthusiasm for this land.
Yudu stroll tour guide introduces Keelung's local culture is very detailed on hot summer days and 2 free hand shakes are given 👍
We were lucky to have this tour all by ourselves. Although we had a hard time looking for the meet up place, the tour company (Keelung for a walk) responded immediately to our email query and we were able to meet our guide. The tour was very interesting and informative. We had some free local delicacies. The tour guide Benny is very thoughtful, he made sure we were comfortable during the tour considering the scorching weather that day. He even googled the last departure time of the train back to taipei for us.
The tour was small and intimate with only 3 people total on the tour. We stopped by several temples and leaned the history of each one. Definitely worth the money!
One of the most memorable tours I've ever had. Mila and Britney were great guides -- the best ones I was fortunate to meet. I really felt how much they loved the city and how passionate they are with what they do. It was just the kind of tour that I was looking for and I would not hesitate to recommend it other people who want to know more about Keelung and its warm, friendly people. The best part of the tour was I was able to see up close traditional musicians practice and play. It was a really nice treat!
A relax and easy tour. Guide is very friendly and welcoming.
Very fun experience, a sight where the tourist never see. I won’t have step into all those places if not for this tour. Kudos Klook!
