What to expect
The Penghu archipelago is densely populated, and the ebb and flow of tides between the islands have created waterways of varying depths. The intertidal zone exposed after low tide adds one-third to Penghu's land area. This vast shallow plain, nourished by the sea, is not only a habitat for a myriad of marine life but also an economic resource area for islanders to gather snails, shellfish, shrimp, and crabs.
Amidst the depletion of Taiwan's fisheries, this ecologically rich and protected vast intertidal zone, a rarity elsewhere, consistently offers surprises. Delve into the fishing villages with local elders and engaging instructors, participating in "Grandma's Stone Mound Hugging."
"Stone Mound Hugging" - a unique and sustainable traditional fishing method in Penghu, is gradually declining due to the commercialization of fisheries and is on the verge of disappearing. Local grandmothers are dedicating their entire efforts to maintaining the waters. This activity was created to transmit cultural values and a sustainable intertidal fishery cycle through tourism activities.

Reviews
Coach Ada’s explanations are lively and interesting. Grandma Aying teaches Baodun culture. Children can experience the real fishing methods in Penghu. After the activity, there are delicious noodles and fried fish to enjoy. It is highly recommended for parents to bring their children with them. You can’t put sunscreen on your hands and feet during the trip because it’s for marine conservation, but remember to wipe your face and neck so you don’t get sunburned. We had a super surprise of puffer fish and sea hare that day.
It was really hard to experience how grandma caught fish to feed the family in the past, and this skill is slowly being lost. If you come to Penghu, you must come and experience grandma holding the fish. The instructor is also very funny and the whole thing is super fun. The last noodles and fried grouper are also Very delicious! ! Highly recommended, must come!
Coach Paomian explained everything in great detail, and both adults and children had a wonderful time. Grandma is already 80 years old, but she has as much energy as a young person, moving through the water with incredible speed. If you ever get the chance to visit Penghu, you absolutely must come here. It's especially great for families with children.
If you have children, don't miss this experience. It's very meaningful to learn about the products brought by nature and the spirit of sustainability! Finally... the fried fish is super delicious😆
Grandma Baodun is very special. The seabed of Penghu is rich in ecology. The coach carefully explains the underwater creatures that you may encounter. It is very suitable for parents and children to play. You can go to play again next time. There are still small boats for children if they don’t rush into the water.
The boss's explanation is very detailed. You can clearly understand the origin of the whole activity. Follow in the footsteps of Aying and grandma to experience the local traditional fishing methods. It is a very educational experience. The whole activity has really gained a lot! I was very lucky to catch an eel this time~
It's an activity worth participating in, suitable for both adults and children. It was a lot of fun all day long. The fried grouper was also delicious and I ate it all.
The whole trip was well planned, ensuring that we could catch fish and also allow the children to learn about the ecology of the intertidal zone. The sea vegetable noodles and fried fish for dinner were very delicious.
There are many activities to participate in the Penghu Fireworks Festival. You can purchase them in advance on Kulu now. The price is relatively convenient and there is no problem in using them.
It’s an experience you won’t have anywhere else. You must take this trip when you go to Penghu!
