Our seamless and highly cost-effective 3-day journey with this pass included: Day 1: Started using the pass right from JR Matsuda Station, which connects perfectly if you take the Odakyu Line Rapid-Express up from Shinjuku. From there, we headed to Gotemba and visited the beautiful Oshino Hakkai village. The local bus fares to Oshino Hakkai alone usually cost over 1,000 JPY per trip, but it was fully covered! We then headed to our accommodation near Fuji Station. Day 2: Explored around the scenic Fujinomiya area and traveled further to visit the famous Mishima Skywalk. Day 3: We took a round-trip cruise on the Suruga Bay Ferry. Even though it was raining continuously and we couldn't disembark to sightsee, the round-trip ferry ride itself normally costs 6,000 JPY in total, making the pass instantly worth it! Afterward, we used the pass to travel smoothly to our next stay in Hamamatsu. This pass saved us a massive amount of transit budget and covered trains, buses, and even a large ferry.
This is a pass for people who are going to travel around Shizuoka and the area around Mount Fuji, who have time and are not in a hurry, because you can only ride local trains. But it's very worth it, you can enjoy the view of Mount Fuji for free, ride the bus to Kawaguchiko for free, and ride the bus in Hamamatsu for free.
I took my family on a trip using the Mt. Fuji & Shizuoka Area Tourist Pass Mini, and we visited the Nihondaira Yume Terrace, Oshino Hakkai, Shimoyoshida Station, Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine, and the Miho no Matsubara and Shimizu Port cruises in Shimizu. I recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Shizuoka.
From Atami, take the train to Izu. From Izu go to Mishima and then take a bus to Mishima Suspension Bridge. From Shizuoka, take the train to Shimizu Fish Port. From Numazu, take a bus to Numazu Port Seafood Market, etc. A single travel pass allows you to travel throughout Shizuoka Prefecture, saving on transportation costs and time. Highly recommended.
The mini pass covers a wide area (including buses and JR lines, but note that it does not include Kintetsu). It's also convenient for visiting Miho no Matsubara, but be sure to check the timetable, as some stations have infrequent services. If you want to see Mount Fuji, the earlier you go, the better, as visibility is higher.
Using this pass, I visited Izu Panorama Park and the Skywalk suspension bridge in Mishima by limited express train and bus; Fujinomiya for the Shibazakura Festival, Makaino Farm, and Shiraito Falls. However, please note that some buses are not included, as well as Shizuoka. When boarding, take a numbered ticket, and when exiting, simply show it along with your pass to the driver, which is very convenient. Be aware that you cannot exchange the pass at the airport, and even at Tokyo Station, it took some searching to find the exchange point.
This pass is perfect for people who want to see Mount Fuji from different perspectives, whether it's in Fujinomiya, Kawaguchiko, or Shimizu. It can be used on JR trains, buses, and boats.
Shizuoka is a very peaceful scenic tourist area, and on a clear day, you can see Mount Fuji all around.
Using the JR Pass for boats, buses, and non-JR trains to reach tourist spots is highly recommended, as it can save you a lot on transportation costs.
We did the exchange at tokyo and took the train from tokyo to atami. You need to exchange it at specific JR central office. To ensure the pass can be used for the bus, we check with the driver first before boarding and so far no issue.
