Very well presented museum, easy access and very interesting Aircraft...
Absolutely amazing collection of planes and memorabilia from all sides of the World wars which is enlightening. The 8 minute screening in WW2 was phenomenal and allowed the audience to experience what it is like to be under attack. Which hopefully none of us will experience again for real. A truly inspiring experience.
Numerous fighter planes used during World Wars I and II are on display. It is full of not only fighter jets but also air force uniforms and historical relics used in war. In particular, it was worth seeing a show that allowed you to realistically experience a battle from World War I. Highly recommended if you like aircraft or war museums.
Omaka Aviation Heritage Center is a tourist attraction close to Blenheim Airport and Picton Ferry Dock. A place where actual models of fighter planes used in World War I and World War II in the early 20th century are on display. This is a must-visit place for airplane enthusiasts, and a must-visit if you want to see actual models of fighter planes from the past. It's a good idea to go on a day when you can travel between the North and South Islands by ferry.
A nice break from the vineyards, this conveniently located history museum has the most impressive collection of aviation and car memorabilia I've ever seen in one place! Thoughtfully created, wonderfully executed, it's an easy recommendation to any history buff or aviation geek!
Wonderful museum with the planes staged like in real looking surroundings.
Going along to this attraction with little expectation I was simply blown away, what a hidden gem, the planes on display are priceless and several the only remaining examples of their kind, the workmanship of the displays are great. Well worth the visit. Thanks klook.
Spent most of the day there. Very good museum.Lots of info and aero plane models from world war 1 and 2 that are still operational today. Worth the visit.

Guide

  • The story of aviation comes to life in magnificent movie-like displays featuring rare memorabilia, artifacts and aircraft
  • Knights of the Sky showcases Lord of the Rings' director Sir Peter Jackson's collection of WW1 aircraft and memorabilia
  • Dangerous Skies, the new WW2 exhibition stars a Spitfire and the unforgettable Stalingrad Experience

Aviation and history buffs will find the Omaka Aviation Heritage Center one of the most important tour locations to visit in Marlborough. Holding historical pieces, pristine replicas, and other vital artifacts from both World War I and World War II, the center carefully exhibits the stories that the soldiers had endured during the great wars and the aviation that had been used in them. Taking you back in time will be the spectacularly realistic sets created by the award-winning artists of Weta Workshop and WingNut Films, making sure your experience could be as authentic as possible in the Knights of the Sky exhibit. The realism of the sets immediately draws you back in to the harsh times of WWI and WWII, where soldiers faced extreme duress and could only rely upon each other and their equipment, particularly their aircraft. The focus on aviation will fully detail the value of aircraft during these wars, and the Center displays film directer Peter Jackson's own personal collection of rare memorabilia and artifacts. This is a high educational and eye opening exhibit in Marlborough that shouldn't be missed.
