Mitai Maori Village Experience

Absolutely fantastic! very well managed from beginning to end. Started with shuttle pickup from your hotel then when we got there, we were welcomed with a very unique opening ceremony on boat! Followed by hangi dinner (traditional method of cooking underground) which was done well, very delicious! we then were entertained with cultural dance and performance, both my kids (4 and 10) loved it and sat quietly mesmerised the whole time. Finished with bushwalk to look at spring water and glowworm. Very well 3hrs spent. Cost us about AUD $400 for family of 4 (my 4yo is free).

Exactly what we were looking for in a cultural experience. We enjoyed every part of what the family shared with us, and the food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this experience and definitely learned so much about the history and cultural aspects of the Maori people.

Even though I had made a reservation, I was debating whether to cancel it or not, but I enjoyed it. I chose the pick-up option, but the pick-up location was confirmed by email the day before, so be sure to check the email. I'm not good at English, but I went alone and it felt a bit odd when I ate... There were almost no Asians and I was the only Korean. Still, you can understand more than half of the explanation of the performance if you speak English at an average level. The food was decent and the performance was really great. I didn't do bushwalking because I had to take the pick-up bus, but it looks like you have some time to do it if you want (you'll have to check with the bus driver about this).

The whole night was exceptional from start to finish. Glow worm walk after dinner to complete the night. The cultural experience was magic. Highly recommend, dinner and show was awesome, this was the highlight of our visit to Rotorua.

very educational and informative. it was a multi-part experience that lasted beyond 9pm. food was good too! so happy to finally have food that isn't dry eg fish n chips.

this was an absolutely incredible evening! an excellent show put on by the people, and the food was absolutely delicious as well! a must do experience if in NZ.
