Guide
- Stunning Special Effects: High-tech is used to achieve "the fusion of water and fire," creating an extremely powerful visual impact.
- Intangible Cultural Heritage Comes Alive: The play incorporates intangible cultural heritage projects, with most actors being local Yi people. Their singing and dancing retain their original ecological charm, without any deliberate embellishment.
- Immersive Audio-Visual Experience: The background music is based on traditional Yi instruments such as the Yueqin and Kouxian, accompanied by live folk songs, sometimes melodious and sometimes passionate.
- "Are Niu" takes the heaven, earth, mountains, and rivers of Xichang Torch Square as its stage, connecting the millennium-old Yi civilization with five natural elements: "eagle, water, fire, mountain, and year." It integrates intangible cultural heritage with modern technology, becoming a vivid window to understand the spirit of the Daliangshan Mountains. "Are Niu" was originally the name of a Yi love song (meaning "little cousin"), but it has now evolved into a cultural symbol carrying national sentiment, telling a legend of life and love under the starry sky.
- Using Torch Square and Are Niu Folk Village as a real-life stage, with mountains as the backdrop and the starry sky as the dome, it breaks the spatial boundaries of traditional theaters, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in the daily life of the Yi people.
- Through the love story of young men and women, it not only showcases the struggle of free love against traditional arranged marriages but also unfolds the historical migration, folk customs, rituals, and natural philosophy of the Yi people, earning it the title of a "living encyclopedia of Yi culture."
- With its ultimate special effects of "water and fire fusion" and original ecological performances, it is hailed as "China's First Fire Show," a landmark project of the Xichang Torch Festival, and a brilliant calling card for Liangshan's cultural tourism.
- From the totem of the eagle to the carnival of fire, "Are Niu" uses a visual feast to help audiences understand the core of "revering nature and loving life" in Yi culture. Whether it's the lively atmosphere of the Torch Festival or the starry sky theater on ordinary days, this "deep dialogue with the Daliangshan Mountains" is worth experiencing firsthand.
Things to note
- The first 3 rows in front of the stage are the "fireworks core area," where special effects like a 3-meter-high fire wall and a flowing "digital fire river" are presented up close. Although there are safety precautions, it is recommended that seniors, children, and those with sensitive respiratory systems choose seats in row 5 or further back. In case of sudden fireworks splashes, do not panic and stand up; instead, lower your head and cover your face with clothing.
- It is strictly forbidden to throw any items (including glow sticks, snack wrappers) onto the stage. The fireworks equipment generates high temperatures when operating, and thrown objects may pose a fire hazard.
- It is recommended to wear flame-retardant materials such as pure cotton or linen, and avoid flammable fabrics like chemical fibers or nylon. Women with long hair should tie it up to prevent accidental entanglement in equipment or ignition by sparks. Do not wear open-toed shoes (there may be scattered fireworks residue on the ground).
- Do not bring flammable and explosive items such as lighters or power banks (exceeding 20000mAh) into the venue.
- Eating pork is prohibited inside the theater (some branches of the Yi ethnic group have dietary restrictions). Bottled water is allowed, but please keep the venue clean. Do not casually touch props on the stage such as eagle feather costumes or moon guitars, as these are either personal belongings of the performers or intangible cultural heritage artifacts.
- For the "Fire Sacrifice for Blessing and Carnival Night" event, you must obtain a safety torch provided by the scenic area (bringing your own is prohibited). Dance to the rhythm of the Dati dance, maintain a 1-meter distance from others, and avoid torch collisions.
