Jesse was a really great and patient instructor. We had a lot of fun learning how to brew Vietnamese coffee and Banh Mi from scratch. The place is also very clean and looks really nice. They also gave us some drinks to try while waiting. Very good experience!
Great short class on Vietnamese coffee and banh mi making! The instructor is very hands on and guides each participant closely throughout the process. The small group setting allows plenty of time for practice and connecting with others. The whole experience is truly memorable. it makes us appreciate Vietnamese cuisine more.
This place is not like others. i only made 1 coffee. i got a choice of which ONE to make and that was it. i chose the egg coffee as that is the most complex one to make and what surprised me was the ingredients and the methods is different from others. so coming here was worth the time but pity it was only 1 coffee. Then making the Banh Mi was so complex. i think i totally messed that up but even a messed up Baguette was still tasty. huge difference to my teachers Bread which was round and bigger. i tried it at the shop which was good but the take away Banh Mi was not as good when it was cold. They say they would donate the unused bread to beggars so it doesn't go to waste. that's a nice thought considering we cannot eat all the bread and I'm sure the staff would be sick of it eating it every day. it was a nice 3 hours. if i could make other types of coffee then it would be better
We loved this experience , Alex our host was so much fun and it was very hands on and delicious to eat the Bahn mi and try the different coffee’s. Amazing value for money and highly recommend doing this activity 10/10 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I had an amazing time at the Dine With Locals Banh Mi class at Love Kitchen Lab. The place is very cozy with a beautiful, homey ambiance, and the hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our instructor Hazel guided us through the entire process of making Bánh mì from scratch, from preparing the dough, shaping and baking the bread, to assembling the sandwich with delicious fillings. The class was small at that time(only 4 people) so it was very hands-on and interactive. Another highlight was the Vietnamese coffee workshop where we learned how to make egg coffee, coconut coffee, and salted coffee using the traditional Phin filter. We also learned about the history of Vietnamese coffee. After cooking, we all enjoyed the Banh Mi we made together and they even served homemade traditional wine. Such a fun and memorable experience! Highly recommended for anyone visiting Hanoi.
This was a wonderful experience. We learned how to make coffee (I chose to learn how to make coconut coffee and my sister chose the salted cream coffee, there was also an egg coffee option), and then of course we learned how to make the banh mi baguettes. It was a fun process and I learned a lot. They also taught us how to prep the filling (veggies, slicing meat, fried egg, etc.) The end result was delicious. They also give the option to buy some of the things used in the class (like the coffee filters and coffee beans, etc.) which was very convenient. Overall I would highly recommend for those wanting to learn how to make banh mi and coffee on their own. I'm excited to use the digital recipe booklet when I return back home.
We book the banh mi and coffee making class today with our 5 and 11 year old and Jane took such great care of us. she was so patient with the kids and didn’t rush them, which was nice for the 5 year old. We all enjoyed the experience and had a wonderful time.
HIGHLY recommend! So friendly, involved us in everything & went above and beyond to host us (especially during their New Year which many things are closed for). Really appreciate everything & will 100% be telling friends who visit to do this class!
This was an excellent social experience, especially as a solo traveller. The feeling was like cooking a communal meal with friends in their very lovely apartment. The activities were well paced, the ingredients fresh and the time flew by. Jesse and Nancy are excellent teachers, and I have a greater level of respect for the art of making banh mi. I also really enjoyed learning how to make egg coffee and can’t wait to try out the recipie at home, especially now that I have learnt the correct amounts of coffee and water to use for the perfect shot.
We joined the Bánh mì cooking class, and it was exactly the kind of authentic experience we love to discover while traveling! Hazel, Jane, and the entire team were excellent — they were so welcoming, patient, and fun, making us feel truly happy and comfortable throughout the whole class. We highly recommend this class to anyone wanting to learn how to make traditional Vietnamese food. It was a wonderful and delicious way to dive into Vietnam’s incredible cuisine!
