Shin our guide was really great, had a great amount of information on the area and local shrines and temples. it was a good pace, plenty of time to ask questions and the crowds weren’t too bad. Shin contacted me the day before, and on the day to set up our meeting, everything was just easy.
Shin and Maggie were such welcoming guides. They took us through such a beautiful area of Kyoto and spoke thoughtfully about all of the history and significance along the way. We learned a lot about Shinto and Buddhism along the way, as well as Japanese history and the cultural significance of Geisha in Japan. It was an excellent tour that I would refer my friends and loved ones to take when they visit Kyoto.
Amy was fantastic! So friendly and knowledgeable. We also went to so many streets and tucked away shrines in Gion that we would have never found on our own. We saw two glimpses of Geisha's too . I hope the next person taking this tour (we were 4 ) are as lucky as we were to have Amy!
our tour guide was great. we walked through temples. old streets. and my wife actually saw a geisha. she .ever would of unless it was pointed out they ride in cabs lol. so keep your eyes peeled.
Was very infirmative. Loved the area and everything it had to offer.
This was my first experience using Klook and my first time booking a short less commitment tour and I was thoroughly impressed. This was a great introduction to Kyoto with plenty of information. To start, our guide, Majo was very easy to find and contact. It was a very small group size which allowed everyone to be able to ask questions and talk with her on a personal level. The tour itself was well paced, with a large amount of information. Seeing these areas at night was great since there was no crowds at all, great opportunity to take pictures. We had access to nice bathrooms a long the way. The tour explored a few shrines and temples and our guide provided instructions on how to participate respectfully. We went through the Geisha district at the end and were lucky enough to see a Geisha in person!
Darren was our guide for the evening. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour was a relaxed stroll through the itinerary spots while catching sunset at the Pagoda. Darren shared a lot of history, rituals and more stories about the spots we visited. The Tour Guide made a lot of difference towards making our trip memorable. Highly recommend going with him.
We had a wonderful experience exploring the Gion area with our guide. From the moment we started, everything felt smooth, well-paced, and thoughtfully planned. Our guide Yuvia was knowledgeable and shared interesting stories about temples and shrines, culture, and the traditions of Gion that we would never have discovered on our own. What stood out most was how engaging and attentive the guide was—always making sure we were comfortable, answering our questions patiently, and even adjusting the pace to suit us. Walking through the beautiful streets at night felt even more special with the detailed explanations and hidden spots pointed out along the way. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience Gion beyond just sightseeing!
we spent a lovely, funny and interesting walk with our guide Tim. he was full of anecdotes, easy to speak with, open and friendly ans answered all our questions. He also gave us tips of good places to eat. Two fantastic hours.
Finally got over my Jet lag! (First time travel to Japan) I had a very fun time learning from Amy about the history of the Gian & Geisha district as well as other other fact about the temple and shrine differences. I was also running a bit late to the tour group, but she was willing to wait a few minutes for me to arrive, so as I did not miss out on the tour. Her tour was very informative and the pace of information was great. She took me to the highly pictureques locations that I was able to grab some great photos, both in the day (and night when I returned). Even though my knowledge was limited she was able to answer the questions I had on how certain traditions were performed at Yasaka Shrine and she took very good photo for with me and the background. Very glad I decided to make a last minute booking for this tour, as I know for a fact I would have completely missed out on history of views of this district!
