Overall an amazing experience! The boat trip was not as special as we had quite expected, but the entrance through the South Ruyi gate was amazing! It was really easy, quick and the walk along the lake was super peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed the nature and scenery a lot, and the tour route was very nicely selected. Our biggest highlight though was definitely our guide Jessica. She explained everything thoroughly, always open to all of our questions (both related to the Summer Palace or just about Beijing and China in general!), and putting the context of the history of the summer palace into that of the rest of Beijing's history with the other historic sights! She really made the private tour 100% worth it. We really appreciated her patience and friendliness. She also gave us a lot of helpful tips for the rest of our trip, and overall helped us make our trip a very memorable experience!

This tour was a very personal one with just the two of us being taken on a tour by our friendly, efficient and informative guide, Taurus. We had a pleasant boat ride in, a walk round and then took the option he offered of another boat ride across the lake with beautiful views.
