Mount Field, Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and Richmond Tour

I had such a great time! Well paced, great scenery, a good workout for all ages and best of all a really friendly, knowledgeable and sincere guide who also skilfully drove us around. Loved all his stories and jokes. Never had such a pleasant tour, nothing to complain about. Pack warm clothes!

What a beautiful day out! This tour was such a great way to experience a mix of nature, wildlife, and charming local spots. Walking through Mount Field to see Russell Falls felt like stepping into a postcard. Bonorong was a personal favourite—I loved feeding the kangaroos and getting up close with the Tasmanian devils. Richmond was so quaint and full of character, and the drive up Mount Wellington (despite the weather being a bit moody!) gave us some stunning views. A big thank you to our tour guide, who really made the experience special. So friendly, full of knowledge, and patient with all our questions. This tour offers a lot of content, visiting four attractions in one day. While the time spent at each attraction isn't extensive, it's sufficient. That's how it goes when you visit multiple spots in a single day; it eliminates the hassle of inconvenient transportation and the need to plan your own itinerary. Plus, the price is reasonable, making it highly recommended for those with limited time! I particularly enjoyed visiting a part of the national forest; it truly felt like being deep in the woods. Feeding kangaroos at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary was also a lot of fun. Richmond Historic Town and Mount Wellington offer a simple experience and a great photo opportunity.

The one-day tour was great, fruitful in content. The first spot included a walk in the rainforest, and two huge falls was displayed. The experience was great and I felt very close to the nature. Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary was a very nice place to know more about the animals and animal conservation in Australia and Tasmania. We could feed and touch the kangaroos easily in the experience. The schedule was slightly changed due to weather, I think the tour guide made the right decision. Mount Wellington became the last spot, which we could enjoy the sunset view with rainbow on it as well. It was spectacular and breath-taking. It is a must-go spot in Hobart. Be aware on the strong wind on the mountain. One thing is was the car was a bit pack, it may due to the heavy clothes in winter. Except this, overall the trip was enjoyable and highly recommend to others if they travel Hobart in the future.

The tour was excellent value for money. The guide drove smoothly, shared great insights, and recommended wonderful spots and restaurants. The route was well planned. We enjoyed a beautiful walk through Mt Field’s ancient rainforest and its stunning waterfall, though the time felt a bit short. Lunch at the charming town of Richmond was lovely — the lavender ice cream was a highlight. Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary had more time than needed, but Mt Wellington made up for it. We reached the snowy summit and captured amazing photos; on a clear day the views would be breathtaking. Overall, a highly worthwhile and well-organized tour.

The day started with a visit to Mt. Field, where we saw the beautiful Russell Falls and Horseshoe Falls. Next, we headed to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, where I got a close look at wombats, Tasmanian devils, and echidnas. We were even given roo feed to hand-feed the kangaroos, but they were too lazy and spoiled to bother with the humans—probably already full, haha. Afterward, we visited Richmond, which was very picturesque and charming. Our last stop was Mt. Wellington, but unfortunately, it was too foggy and windy to enjoy the city views.

The itinerary was well arranged, but it was a bit cold that day. We went to Mt Field first in the morning and it was only about 7 degrees. If we went to Mt Wellington first, it might only be 0 degrees. After finishing the Mt field, we went to see animals. It was just in time to join one of the guided tours and saw many interesting animals. After that, we had lunch and sightseeing in Richmond. Finally, we went to Mt Wellington where it was already warm and we saw the panoramic view of Hobart. It was a complete day.

It was good, though the itinerary was packed and a bit rushed, as we visited four attractions in one day. It's suitable for animal lovers and those looking for a day trip near the city. We joined a local tour group, and the guide was a local who provided interesting insights into the culture and history.

I am very satisfied with this trip. The scenery along the way to Mount Field was especially beautiful and impressive. Our 74-year-old guide that day was enthusiastic, safe, and focused while driving. His dedication deeply inspired and motivated me. In addition, Mount Wellington near the city exceeded expectations. From the summit, we had panoramic views of the city and the coastline, and the mountain also boasts unique plants. The full-day itinerary was substantial and fulfilling, and we enjoyed delicious food in the town of Richmond for lunch. Overall, this was a perfect trip.

The itinerary is rich, and the tour guide Gary is friendly and kind. He introduced a lot of information about Tasmania and tourist attractions throughout the trip. The scenery visited is beautiful. There are many kangaroos in Bonorong, and you can get up close and feed them. Mt Wellington overlooks Hobart and its suburbs. But the wind is very strong, so wear more clothes.
