Reviews
Our tour guide was very thoughtful. Our accommodation was a bit far, outside the Third Ring Road, so they arranged for a driver to take us to the meeting point in the morning. My husband and I, our three-year-old child, and our elderly parents went together, and all the attractions were free for the child. However, I must mention that this itinerary involves a lot of walking, so it can be quite strenuous if you're not physically fit. Qingcheng Mountain in the morning was absolutely beautiful, truly living up to its reputation as the most serene mountain under heaven. We kept walking and walking, and eventually, the elderly members of our group stopped to rest near the summit, while we continued to the very top. After lunch, we proceeded to the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. This incredibly magnificent project was very enlightening, and we learned about the deeds of General Li Bing of the Qin Dynasty, which filled us with immense admiration for him. There was never a dull moment throughout the entire trip. If you're in good physical condition, I highly, highly recommend it!
On time pickup at 8.40am by a 7seater van to Panda valley.. Reached in 1hour plus and driver/guide got down to get us ticket to enter on our own.. Get to see giant Pandas and Red Pandas.. Finish our own walk around the park and meet at the van at 12pm..we were brought to a normal restaurant to have lunch at our own expense.. But as per Klook itinerary, there was supposed to give us free ticked for face changing show. Didn't get that but not a big issue. After lunch we proceeded to Yulin pagoda + Dujiangyan where the guide gave us a detailed explanation on its history etc.. Fee for the escalator up Yulin mountain + 3d show and tram ride through Dujiangyan was not included in the fee. So we paid that on the end of the day to our guide. We got a free and easy period around 4pm til 7.30 walking at the shopping street & dinner to wait for the sky to get dark and see Dujiangyan with blue colored lights which made it famously called blue tears. Got back to hotel around 9pm.we had a good time.
I just finished my trip yesterday, so while the memories are still fresh, I wanted to share a few thoughts. The Dujiangyan water flow was quite strong. Standing at the Fish Mouth, watching the Min River split, the guide's explanation was incredibly vivid—a hundred times more impactful than seeing pictures in a textbook. In the afternoon, we went to Panda Valley. There weren't many people, and we saw several adult pandas eating bamboo outdoors, some less than five meters away. The biggest surprise was the red panda free-range area; they were strolling right by the path, and one even ran past my feet. This season is perfect for a visit; it would be too hot later on.
Choosing the Dujiangyan + Panda Valley route for a day trip around Chengdu was really wise! We departed from Chengdu in the morning and arrived at the Dujiangyan scenic area in about an hour's drive. Following the guide's explanation, we learned about the ingenious design of the millennium-old water conservancy project. Watching the river rushing down, I couldn't help but admire the wisdom and hard work of the ancients. The three main projects of Yuzui (Fish Mouth), Feishayan (Flying Sand Weir), and Baopingkou (Treasure Bottle Neck) cooperated with each other to perfectly solve the problems of irrigation and flood control, which is amazing. At noon, we tasted the local specialties in Dujiangyan city, especially rabbit head and Cong Cong Juan (scallion rolls), which tasted very good. In the afternoon, we went to the Panda
The guide told stories about both sites, making history come alive. Dujiangyan’s genius and Qingcheng’s serenity—two totally different joys. Pick-up/drop-off was super convenient.
We went on May Day, and it was indeed very crowded, but there was nothing we could do; we just had to bear with it since it was a holiday. My kids were fascinated by the Fish Mouth and Anlan Suspension Bridge at Dujiangyan, and the guide's explanation of the story of Li Bing and his son was very vivid. The Sanxingdui Museum was absolutely stunning; my kids kept asking questions about the bronze masks and the sacred tree, and they didn't complain about being bored the entire time. The day trip wasn't rushed, and my kids ate a good amount of the group lunch. When we got back, they even drew golden masks. It's definitely worth taking the kids.
A very fun and comfortable tour. Being able to speak basic Putonghua is definitely an advantage. Love Dujiangyan!
Took my parents on a day trip, and the elderly folks were extremely satisfied! Dujiangyan has sightseeing buses, so you don't have to walk too much, and my parents listened with great interest. We chose the front mountain of Qingcheng Mountain, where the steps are relatively gentle, and we strolled along, visiting Taoist temples and enjoying the scenery. The air was super fresh, and my parents said that climbing the mountain wasn't tiring and was actually comfortable. The tour guide was very considerate and took care of everything throughout the whole trip. The group meal at noon was also delicious, and the price-performance ratio was super high, making it suitable for a family trip!
the 3 day 2 nights is nicely paced. the scenery is breath taking. came during winter some lakes are dried up. will look to come again
According to the guides online, Dujiangyan Panda Valley is more cost-effective, and it's true!!! You can see red pandas up close, and they are super cute. Sometimes you can see red pandas walking on the plank road. There are relatively few tourists here, so it's not so crowded. The time for the 2-8 person small group is relatively flexible. The driver will suggest us what time to meet, and everyone is very punctual. It was a very interesting day.
