What to expect

Discover authentic Dutch culture on a guided tour from Amsterdam. In just 20 minutes, reach the charming village of Edam, home to the original cheese market where wheels of cheese were traded centuries ago. Learn about traditional cheese-making and enjoy a fresh tasting at a real working farm.

Next, travel to Schermerhorn, where the oldest polder in the Netherlands was created using 400-year-old windmills. Step inside one of these historic windmills, see how families once lived, and discover how wind power was used to drain water and create new farmland.

With a knowledgeable guide and small-group setting, enjoy a relaxed, authentic, and educational morning exploring the true origins of Dutch windmills and cheese – away from the crowds, yet just 20 minutes from Amsterdam.
