Great opportunity to learn some of Penang’s history. Especially of one wants to trace any potential ancestors. Wait around for the tour groups to walk through the spaces and you’ll practically have the place to yourself
Good experience. Need to collect physical ticket from counter. Easy and fast. Murals inside are really nice to see. Historical facts are described.
The architecture is beautiful. It is suitable for people who have a strong interest in traditional architecture. There are many details to see. It was hot though. We didn't stay here for long before we left.
Such kongsi have survived only in Penang, and especially in Georgetown. The imperial palace in Beijing was taken as a basis. Later, a decree was issued banning such buildings (especially in height). This kongsi occupies a fairly large area and consists of at least five buildings. It takes less than an hour to inspect.
Largest in the city, best maintained, come and see.
LEONG SAN TONG KHOO KONGSI temple was a good place to visit. You can learn the history of this place but it can be skipped as well if you don't have much time.
stunning temple!!! we had problems with our tickets - we purchased the night before and our booking was not there making us wait for over 25 mins as the lady tried to work out what went wrong. best to just buy on arrival!
It was nice to do, but nothing exceptional.. it's not a must-see, it's up to you :)

Guide

Welcome to Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi Georgetown, Penang, which was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage Listing in July 2008. With its long illustrious history and beautiful architecture, the Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi clanhouse is an icon Heritage Conservation. It is also known as the Heritage Jewel of Penang, which comprises the majestic clanhouse, an opera stage, a courtyard and 4 rows of residential terrace houses.

In 2006, Khoo Kongsi was proud to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the clanhouse, that was rebuilt after the original building was destroyed by fire in 1901. It is a building rich in architecture and heritage. It must not be missed out in any heritage tour of Penang. It was once a beacon of hope for the Khoo clansmen who made their journey from China to the promised new world of Malaya. The clanhouse now serves as an excellent example of heritage conservation and restoration.
