Reviews
Reviews summaryWe really really enjoyed this! Was easy to contact them via Wechat to book our timeslot. Booked the package with clothing, makeup and hair + added on professional photography. We loved the variety of options, and the makeup/hair artists are very efficient. The photographer takes soo many pics, and you get 3 free. We ended up topping up for 3 more. The dinner itself is super worth it, it was like a 8-course banquet dinner with crab, fish etc. The dinner lasted about 2h with many performances. My 3 year old daughter loved the whole experience! Recommend arriving early (we arrived about 4.30pm for the 4.45pm makeup slot, it's first come first served), which gave us plenty of time to take photos before dinner at 6.50pm. Highly recommend!
This was such a fun and immersive banquet. Big choice of hanfu, the hair was beautifully done (you can have it up or down). I paid for hair and make up but opted out of the make up, just the small decorative touches, as I don’t like using shared make-up and brushes. The overall outfit was amazing. The food was surprisingly good and the actors did well. Great service overall, I highly recommend getting VIP seats for the best views. There is a small game at the end for those who want to participate. The show is in Chinese however there is a projected translation on the wall.
A fantastic and unforgettable Tang Dynasty dining experience! The performances were spectacular, with stunning costumes, music, and choreography that brought history to life. The venue was beautifully decorated, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the overall atmosphere was magical. The dinner was delicious, well presented, and complemented the show perfectly. Excellent value for money and a must-visit experience for anyone visiting Xi’an. Highly recommended!
Had an incredible lunch at Xuyan! What really sets this place apart is the amazing variety of traditional costumes available—I loved that there were so many choices to pick from. Remember arrive early so you can choose first! and don’t worry you get bored, there is some activities and mini games before lunch start, you can slowly play along and take more photos before the show , I brought my dad along, and he was so happy with the food and the overall vibe. It’s not just a meal,it’s a full cultural experience. Highly recommended!

After purchasing tickets here, you'll immediately receive a notification and confirmation email, along with instructions on how to message the venue to select your seats and date. I found messaging via WeChat to be quite fast. Regarding the location, it's not in the city center, so you'll need to take a train to get there. The exterior looks similar to wedding venues. Ticket categories aren't based on rows like a circular stage, but rather on the distance from the center of the stage. The dance performance is beautiful; the first one or two songs have great music and a lively rhythm. However, the later songs are about the ups and downs of Yang Guifei, so if you don't understand Chinese, it can be quite boring. The food is delicious, and there are many dishes, so you'll be very full. I thought the best dishes were the first soup and the pyramid-shaped sticky rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo leaves, especially since I went on the Dragon Boat Festival. Overall, this experience is definitely worth the money.
My first Hanfu experience! The lavish meal and show were absolutely delightful! We arrived an hour and a half before the show started, but there was quite a wait for makeup. If you have extra time, I recommend arriving early. I made the reservation via WeChat. I sent a message considering the time difference, but the reply was slow. However, I was glad we got to enjoy our meal from the very front row! The outfits were pre-arranged, and while the one I tried on wasn't quite what I imagined, I couldn't change it. There were also accessories like fans and capes, but they were first-come, first-served, so be aware of that! I showed a reference photo for my makeup, but they declined, so I left it up to them! All the staff members were very kind!
I was worried about the seating, but the standard seats had a great view! I couldn't understand the language, but I enjoyed the dancing and performances. The food was all delicious and hot. Even in the standard seats, I got something like a strawberry candy, but it was tomato and muscat. The costumes had fewer variations than I expected, and even though I researched and decided on an image beforehand, I couldn't find a costume with the same vibe, which was frustrating. It came with makeup and hair, but I had read in reviews that the makeup was light, so I went with heavy makeup, and they added rhinestones to my face. The staff are in a big hurry, so I think it's smoother if you do your makeup beforehand. They quickly add decorations to the hair that match the costume, so they don't ask for your opinion. You have to muster up the courage to say something yourself, but basically, they don't understand the language, and they don't speak English, so a translation app is essential. The finished look was a little different from what I had imagined, but there are photo spots, and you can take lots of pictures while eating, so I was satisfied. I recommend taking pictures indoors in a relaxed setting. I also saw people having Hanfu experiences outdoors in places like Yu Garden, but they looked very cold.
We booked earlier on a Klook sale but couldn’t make a booking on WeChat until a week before the show. Customer Service managed to extend the expiry date for our voucher for us, so that was much appreciated. Had to use 小程序 for booking. Choose the full hair and makeup option if you love taking photos. You can choose costumes from Tang/Ming etc. Dynasties. Good to come with an idea of what you want. Food is actually delicious and filling. Our VIP seats served us at with 1 crab each. There’s child priced ticket for kids below 130cm. My kids who are not strong at Chinese enjoyed the show.
What a feast! The venue is so beautiful, staffs are so patient and helpful. They did the amazing jobs to helping us choosing costumes, dresses up and makeup. Food and performances were spectacular, we cannot give any negative feedbacks about it. 10/10 definitely want to go again when we’re back in Shanghai.
