Old style hotel, old fixtures & fittings. Beds were very hard and uncomfortable, but nice hotel onsen.

Yes my room was spotless and the staff were very polite indeed

It was a fair price. Clean room, good bath. Not luxury, but enough for a solo traveler like me

Advertised french restaurant was closed throughout entire 2 day stay and was the only reason for chosing this hotel. Desk staff tried to blame me for hotel not disclosing closure.

Charming lodge-beautiful sauna and wonderful hotel staff. Only con is the building is not close to any restaurants to eat dinner/breakfast.

Hotel was clean.Prooerty a bit dated, weird Onsen hours, none in the morning.

In a peaceful country location even though on a main road. Just a short walk to a bus stop for both directions. Close access to Kanmangafuchi Abyss for a pleasant walk.

Its a quaint hotel, a little out of the way of downtown Nikko but well worth it - if you have a Nikko World Heritage Pass, you can take a bus for free about 300 meters from the entrance. The staff is great, and they have their own outdoor hot spring bath, which gives it a unique charm. The only downside is that the pillows are not very soft, even by Japan standards. Could use a replacement. Its a bit dated, but for a small town hotel, it should be expected and is part of the local charm.
