This is a terrific basic hotel with very clean and stylish Western-style rooms (albeit with the small Japanese beds) and public spaces at reasonable rates. Would definitely stay here again. It is a bit out of the way from central Nikko (up a hill from the train stations, and a bit too far on rural roads to be truly walkable), but cabs are cheap and the hotel runs a free shuttle to the stations in the morning and late afternoon. Also there is no restaurant on-site. However, there’s free tea/coffee/miso soup in the lobby, basic food items for sale at the front desk, and a good breakfast truck (with Western breakfast items and coffee) comes by from 7-10 am.

Very nice hotel - room was superb, well located, but not too busy. Since the hotel has no restaurant, either come with a car, or eat before arriving on the shuttle.

I was somewhat upset when I first arrived at the hotel as I discovered how inconveniently located that it was. There are very few public buses and the hotel shuttle only operated from the Tobu Nikko station to the hotel very infrequently. I had to cab to the hotel and take another cab to get out to the town to eat, This costs approximately 1300-1500 yen, and about a 7 min drive, which is NOT walkable! There is no restaurant on site and hence there is no breakfast option. However there is a food truck in the mornings and the hotel sells items that can be heated using the toaster oven or microwave there. Apart from this, the room was large, very nice and clean: the bed was very comfortable. After spending one night there and reconciling myself to the inconvenience of the location, I appreciated the serenity of the place. Other hotels that are nearer to town are less likely to be as modern and as long as you are willing to pay for cabs, or plan ahead in the use of the shuttle, the hotel is great!

I really like the atmosphere, very quiet and peaceful. The place was so clean and neat. Staffs were friendly, they gave us towels when we arrived because it was raining. We will definitely book it again.

You will not be disappointed

The staff and the property were wonderful! Beautiful rooms and environment! The free shuttle from the train station was helpful. Amenities were nice, with coffee & latte machine. Would recommend both Nikko and the hotel!

Very clean room and friendly staff.

Very nice and clean property. It is perfect except for maybe the location. Nikko in general is more spread out and harder to navigate. This property really felt out of the way of basically everything. That being said, as long as you don't mind taking a few taxis and strategically use their complimentary shuttle times, then it really is a nice place to stay.

I loved how close it was to everything. At night, it looked kind of magical from the outside. The room was clean and the staff were very helpful. I would absolutely stay here again if I visit Nikko.
