仰光作为缅甸曾经的首都，是缅甸最大城市，这里也是全国经济、文化和交通中心。仰光同时也是东南亚最大的港口之一，城区三面环水，东面是勃固河，西面是伊瓦洛底江，从濒临仰光河的南部，沿东西两岸向北扩展，繁华的商业街一条条笔直宽敞的大街鲜花盛开，人行道上绿树成荫。室内的民间建筑既有传统的缅甸风格，也有不少西式建筑。政府大楼、中央银行、海关、仰光车站、邮电大楼都是英式建筑，仰光市东南亚拥有最多前殖民地建筑的城市。特别推荐的景点如，东南亚三大古迹之一的瑞光大金塔，还有中心以北区域的卡拉威宫和乔达基卧佛等。在缅甸最神圣的佛教建筑瑞光大金塔聆听袅袅梵音，搭上环绕仰光城的小火车欣赏郊外田园风光，徒步穿梭市中心感受东方花园城市曾经的繁荣吧！
