If you’re visiting Shodoshima and want an amazing, unique experience, don’t skip the Yokai Art Museum! As someone with a deep interest in yokai, I found the exhibitions to be incredibly interesting and beautifully curated. It’s an absolute must-see for fellow folklore lovers or anyone curious to know more about these fascinating creatures.

The museum boasts a rich collection of yokai (supernatural beings) artifacts and illustrated scrolls, and its interactive exhibits are incredibly engaging! After your visit, we recommend stopping by the Miyoshi City Tourism Association next door, where you'll find a wide selection of Miyoshi grape souvenirs made from local specialties. It's a great place to combine cultural experience with shopping enjoyment.

The tour guide for the Shodoshima bus tour was polite, professional, and very thorough with the explanations. My Japanese is not great, but I thoroughly enjoyed listening; friends who don't know Japanese don't need to worry either, as important instructions and meeting times are clearly explained. Many of the tour members were from overseas, and everyone was very helpful to one another. Unfortunately, it rained that day, so we couldn't capture Shodoshima's most picturesque side, but the itinerary itself was still enjoyable and smooth.
