Wajid was easily one of the best tour guides I've ever had. Even 30 minutes before we started, he reached out to make sure I knew exactly where to meet him, which was super helpful. He made our whole time in Kyoto memorable. He's really smart and knows his stuff, but he's also just a lot of fun to hang out with. His explanations about the geishas and the local history were fantastic, and he managed to be funny, thoughtful, and totally genuine the whole time. He made sure our pace felt comfortable and answered every single question we had. If you want someone who makes history interesting and approachable, he's your guy. Wajid made Gion come alive Booked this on a whim and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Wajid was there ahead of us, umbrella in hand, sorting everyone out before we even started walking. He has a knack for reading a group — he knew when to talk and when to just let us look. He wove in the history of the district, pointed out details we'd have walked straight past, and stopped to answer questions from each of us properly instead of rattling through a script. The rain came down halfway through and he didn't compress a thing. Same pace, same detail, same enthusiasm at the last stop as the first. Five stars, and a genuine thank you to Wajid.

I was new to Japan and spent my first week in Tokyo, where I participated in a few tours. However, during my tour in Kyoto with Wajid, I learned so much more about Japanese culture and traditions, including geisha culture.
