Amazing experience. It was a 20 min taxi or 40 min train from Nara Park we went with a taxi for about $30 AUD. The experience is held at Haroni Kissako-An’s (Tea Ceremony Master) house. He was very welcoming and showed us all the correct steps for a tea ceremony. He was strict with how we performed the steps but was light hearted and made the experience fun and enjoyable. I will highly recommend this experience to others as myself and 3 others really enjoyed ourselves.

notre hôte nous a reçu dans sa salle de thé. il nous a expliqué dans un anglais parfait en quoi consistait tous les éléments et outils de la cérémonie. nous avons aussi pu apprendre quelques mots japonais et découvrir une friandise typique. nous avons beaucoup appris sur la signification des bols et la purifications des outils. c’était un moment fort en émotions et en signification que nous avons pris le plaisir de découvrir. on aimerait recommencer ! merci à notre hôte pour sa gentillesse et sa bienveillance.

Mr Hirano was an excellent tea master and provided a very memorable experience for my whole family. He explained all the aspects of the ceremony from cleansing, entering the tea room via side door and etiquette. The background for each bowl given to each participant was also a nice touch. It was the highlight of our trip to Nara.

this was an absolute blast! our host, a professor at the Naga university, was the sweetest host you could have, eager to explain every part of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. I was especially mesmerized by his tea whisking skills. The matcha also tasted great. If you have the time, definitely come here!

Worth every cent. My son (18) and I (49) went, walked from the train station through the neighborhoods. The walk itself is nice. 45 years of tea ceremony experience shows, and his patience with us, and his English was *easily* good enough for the ceremony, our first. would definitely recommend to anyone.

Absolutely fantastic. The tea master spoke great English. He also did great to explain the entire ceremony, why he selected each cup etc. We had a blast and he was patient and made sure we got the ceremony accurate. Definitely worth the experience!

Definitely one of the best experiences we had during our trip in Japan, the Master explained the whole process of preparing and respecting the tea. From beginning to end was a super immersive experience in the Japanese culture. 10/10

What a truly remarkable & memorable experience for my daughter & I. The Master of Tea Ceremony invited us into a world of tradition & respect. Teaching us the etiquette & symbolism behind each piece. Definitely our top 2 of our favorite experiences in Japan. Arigato Gozaimasu.

Wir haben die Teezeremonie etwas außerhalb von Nara Park besucht. Mit dem Taxi (ca. 20 Minuten vom Nara Park) oder der Bahn (ca. 40 Minuten) ist die Location aber gut erreichbar. Schon die Fahrt dorthin war für uns ein Highlight, da wir aus dem Trubel des Touristenzentrums herauskamen und die dörfliche Umgebung genießen konnten – das war unglaublich erfrischend. Vor Ort wurden wir herzlich empfangen. Der Gastgeber war sehr geduldig, höflich und hilfsbereit. Er hat uns alle Schritte ausführlich erklärt und uns mit viel Ruhe durch die Zeremonie geführt. Man spürt, wie wichtig ihm die Tradition und Authentizität dieses Erlebnisses sind. Für uns war es die schönste Erfahrung während unseres ganzen Japanurlaubs. Wir können die Teilnahme von Herzen weiterempfehlen!
