Hotel D Geneva

Nice, clean, modern room, comfortable bed. Smallish size with no sitting space other than on the bed. Easy walk to all types of restaurants and cafes. But like all hotel's I considered, the price was high compared to similar hotels in other cities.

Tucked away in an interesting neighborhood (being so close to the train station may be a sign), the hotel itself is very clean. Staff is great! Temp. in room couldn’t get as cool as we would have liked due to a law, so warm at night. Overall, very nice. Neighborhood (opposite a strip club) is questionable (this is entirely subjective - may not bother others).

Good value for the price very near to the lake, restaurants, and plenty of activity. The AC did very much struggle to keep up with the heat wave (room was set as cold as it could go and it was probably in the 80s F), but that may have been a lot of hotels.

I arrived at Hotel D with high hopes, especially given the strong Expedia reviews. I found a property with a tiny lobby without a well-developed common area. The room was nice, fairly spartan decor, modern, and comfortable. The big problem was the lack of air conditioning in the common areas and insufficient air conditioning in the rooms. OK, it was an extremely hot week in Geneva. But even at night, with windows shut and within the closed space of my room, with the A/C temp set at 17 degrees Celsius, I couldn't get the room sufficiently cold. The staff were very nice and were sensitive to my issues. But didn't get much responsiveness, perhaps because they knew there wasn't much they could do. Overall, I had a reasonable experience, but expected more from a hotel with average reviews above 9.0.

Lucas made the best cappuccinos for breakfast! He was always so kind. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were doing okay. It was very quiet too - a great stay!

The hotel was ideally situated, within easy walking distance of the lake, Old Town, the bus station, and numerous restaurants. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were exceptionally clean and quiet. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.
