Urban Hotel Kyoto Gojo Premium

I would recommend a window facing the back of the building not the main street because it is very noisy. You will hear cars and motorcycles all night long. They did not offer bottled water in the room nor did they have deodorizer spray in the room. The refrigerator was not getting cold and the staff was not very helpful by Asking me if I needed it to be cold. Yes, I would like a cold refrigerator so I had to get a bucket of ice.

So I've stayed at the sister Urban Kyoto Premium Shijo before but recall it being somewhat better than this one on Gojo - they are literally 600m apart. I have to say that for the price (and we used Expedia points and glad I didn't pay full price) the hotel basically scales new heights of mediocrity. Nothing exactly wrong with it but here are the gripes: 1) elevators too small and too few for the volume of users 2) have to take breakfast time tickets because whoever built the hotel decided to make a restaurant that is too small for the number of visitors 3) asked for room to be cleaned and put the 'please make up the room' sign in the door but it wasn't cleaned 4) advertise dinner on signs outside but it turns out that it isn't available at the moment - please take the signs in 5) the public bath is nice but nothing better than APA 6) location is great but there is a massive foot bridge to get anywhere south of Gojo Dori Overall it's just 'fine' in all respects -

Breakfast was amazing. Staff was nice and property was very clean. Public bath was relaxing. They charged room tax on top of what I paid to Expedia. Location is also good. 1 bus ride away from main attractions and close to convenience stores. I would recommend

Check in was smooth, room very clean and well appointed. The location is about 20-25 min walk from Kyoto Station. We ended up taking the city bus for the most part to get around. Use Suica or IC card to tap off the bus. There's no tap on- just hop on and pay when you hop off. This location is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle. Hotel has 4 washer/dryer combo and none were available so we crossed the street and did laundry at the laundry mat. Explored the neighborhood for an hour and came back when laundry was done. I enjoyed the stay for the quietness but would prefer a hotel closer to the train station next time.

I requested a queen or king bed, but was given a room with two single beds on the 2nd floor. There’s also a lot of traffic noise.

Laundry took a really really long time to get done. Over 2 hours because they would not dry properly. Everything else was amazing.

Good location, good bath!

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room exceeded my expectations and will strongly consider staying here again, when i come back to Kyoto.
