Spend a day at one of the most breathtaking geo-parks that once served as a summer getaway for ancient China’s most powerful emperors! Cuihua Mountain is part of the Zhongnanshan National Forest Park and features unique landslide formations and dammed lakes carved by devastating earthquakes in ancient times. Hop on a bus from downtown Xian and get off at Cuihua Shan Station then walk for about 200 meters and the national park gate will be in sight. It’s best to visit during summer to enjoy the beautiful cascading waterfalls at Yifangyuan Scenic Area and the Wind and Ice Caves, narrow gaps formed by a sea of collapsed stone. Don’t forget to stop by the Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Museum to learn more about the animals, plants, weather and hydrology affected by the landslides. If you're visiting during the winter, be prepared for heavy snow. The ski resort in Cuihua Mountain is the only natural ski area in Xian as well as the biggest in Shaanxi Province, where up to a 1,000 people can enjoy the slopes.
