There is plenty of time! The tour guide gave a very clear explanation of the route! The itinerary is arranged to go up from the middle gate (Zhuanduankou) and down from the east gate (East Fifth Watchtower)! You can see the endless Great Wall! However, please be sure to wear non-slip shoes and check the weather forecast! Otherwise, it is really dangerous if you encounter rain and fog! Some slopes are very steep, and the step heights vary. One of the passengers in our group fractured a bone and had to be carried down the mountain by five people taking turns. The tour guide was very responsible in assisting with the injured person! This is one of the highly recommended sections of the Great Wall to visit when coming to Beijing!

Martin was a great guide! He was very knowledgeable and shared many interesting stories and historical facts about the Great Wall. The overall organization was smooth and straightforward. As for the hike itself, the scenery was absolutely beautiful! Some sections were quite steep. The Great Wall was fairly crowded but the experience was still very enjoyable. The hike was divided into two parts: the 1st was a guided walk with Martin and the 2nd was a more challenging climb that we could explore at our own pace. To get back down, you have 3 options: walk down or take the chairlift/enjoy the toboggan slide for an additional fee. However, the slide waiting time is at least 1h.

We had a wonderful half-day private tour to the Terracotta Army with Mason. Although our trip was short and we only visited the Terracotta Army, we had a really great time. Mason’s English is excellent. He speaks fluently and clearly, so communication was very easy. He knows Qin history very well. He explained the stories of Emperor Qin Shi Huang and the terracotta warriors in a vivid way, not just reading a boring script. Mason’s service was also fantastic. He was punctual, patient and professional. He guided us through the museum, answered all our questions, and never rushed us. He perfectly handled our tight schedule. This short tour became a memorable experience. We highly recommend Mason as a private guide in Xi’an. We would love to book him again if we return. Best Tour Guide 5stars
