Gion Kawakami (祇園川上) în Gion, Kyoto

it was a bit hard to find but the service is really great and food was amazing! like nothing we have ever had before

this was the best meal I had in Japan! I was traveling alone, and many places require a minimum of 2 people, but I was lucky that this place had counter sitting and I got to watch the chef prepare everything right in front of me. the attention to detail, the service, and the food were all impeccable. I will definitely return if I come back to Kyoto! the pictures don’t do justice to the exquisite taste.

Highly recommend! What an incredible experience! This isn’t just food – it’s art. A huge thank you to the Chef and the entire team for such a memorable time!

Art! The chef was masterful. The presentation of each dish was beautiful. The staff were professional and sweet. My fellow diners were friendly and kind. It was a special evening that I will not soon forget.
