The environment is beautiful, and from the top floor, you can get a panoramic view of the entire city. If you are interested in Japanese history, it is well worth a visit. Inside, there's a photo booth area with cartoon character cutouts for souvenir photos. There's also a photo zone outside the castle, but you have to pay to download high-resolution photos. Therefore, many tourists use their own phones or cameras to take pictures.

The queue to buy tickets on-site was about 10-20 minutes long. We recommend purchasing your tickets in advance through Klook to avoid waiting in line. This is especially advisable during long holidays when it tends to be crowded.

When you visit, the first thing that catches your eye is the castle tower with its vibrant white exterior. The beautiful white of the outer walls and the contrast with the black roof tiles are very impressive, truly befitting its name, "White Crane." Inside the castle tower, there are exhibition rooms with numerous exhibits on the history of the Aizu Domain and the daily lives of samurai at that time. Particularly noteworthy are the materials related to the Aizu War during the Boshin War, and the exhibition of armor and weapons from the Sengoku period. Furthermore, beautiful moats and castle walls remain around the castle, evoking a historical atmosphere. A vast park spreads out to the south of the castle, bustling with many cherry blossom viewers during the sakura season. What I felt during my visit was the deep history of Tsuruga Castle and the efforts made for its restoration. It seemed as if the power of the former Aizu Domain and the stories of the people who continued to resist the wave of modernization were alive within the castle. By understanding its historical background, it was a place where I could re-recognize its value not just as a tourist spot, but as a part of history.

I went to Osaka Castle in April, and compared to that, Aizuwakamatsu Castle seems quite small and compact. However, it has significantly fewer crowds, and there's air conditioning, making it a comfortable visit. The garden is also a great spot for photos.

Easy to use, just open the link on your phone and show it to the staff to collect your tickets. This is a well-preserved castle, and the main keep has a lot of information; you can also visit the tea room. It wasn't too crowded, so we had a comfortable visit. There was ample parking available.

It's about a 30-minute walk from Nanukamachi Station. I walked directly from my hotel, and the scenery was beautiful. There are also some small shops outside that you can browse along the way.
