First of all, this trip is definitely worth the money! There were multiple stops including the windmill, cheese factory, Edam, Volendam & Marken Tour. Personally, I found that the time in the windmill area was extremely tight; after a few photoshoots, we barely had any time to visit the stores. However, places like Edam & Marken Tour I found a little bit of a waste of time as the tour guide stopped and shared historic moments in these areas. Some of the explanations could have been done during the bus ride to reduce time in those areas, which were pretty dull. Volendam was an interesting area where we had our lunch recommended by the guide. More time could be allocated here, but overall, it was still pleasant. The cheese factory had a nice Dutch Lady sharing how the cheese was processed, and there was a good range of cheese for purchase afterward. Highly recommended.
This tour exceeded all our expectations, and a big part of that was our amazing guide, Holly. She didn’t just introduce the attractions themselves, but went much deeper—sharing the historical background, cultural context, and everyday stories behind Dutch history, including details about local life, traditions, and even food like cheese and butter. As foreign visitors, Holly helped us truly understand the Netherlands, not just see it. Her explanations made every stop meaningful rather than just a photo opportunity. The tour felt thoughtful, well-paced, and incredibly informative. Highly recommended for anyone who wants more than a standard sightseeing tour. This was an authentic and enriching experience.
The tour was good overall, but it felt a little rushed at times. The first stop wasn’t something I was really interested in, but the rest of the itinerary was great! Our tour guide was excellent and made the experience enjoyable! thank you
Initially, I was skeptical about going, thinking we wouldn't have enough time at each stop and would feel uncomfortable. However, quite the opposite, we had so much fun! It was by far the most enjoyable experience we had in Amsterdam. We got to see the towns and taste the amazing cheese. Our guide, Lara, was incredibly nice and funny. She explained the history in a captivating way, not boring at all, and we thoroughly enjoyed having her as our guide. Highly recommend!
This tour includes ferry tickets from Volendam to Marken and lunch. The round-trip bus fare from Amsterdam and an English-speaking tour guide make it a highly cost-effective and time-efficient option. I usually don't expect much from tour lunches, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. You could choose between chicken and fish, and I opted for the fish. Bite-sized fried fish pieces were served hot and in generous portions, and they were surprisingly delicious. The French fries were also excellent, and it came with warm bread, water, and a salad. Two types of mayonnaise were provided: one with pickles and a plain one. The portions were so large that when I ran out of sauce, they refilled it for me. It seemed like it would pair well with beer, so I added a Heineken, which was very cold and tasty. Our tour guide, Edo, explained things slowly and clearly, even to those who didn't understand English well, and he always made sure to point out the restroom locations. First, we went to Volendam, where those with ferry tickets separated from those without. Those with tickets picked them up themselves at a souvenir shop and then took the ferry to Marken. We had lunch at a restaurant in Marken. Afterward, we moved to Edam, where our guide explained how the age of Edam houses could be determined by the shape of their roofs, and then we visited a cheese factory. At the cheese factory, someone dressed in traditional Dutch attire explained the old methods of cheese making. We sampled various cheeses there and were able to buy a 380g block for about 13 euros, which is about half the price in Japan. There were also many souvenirs available, including sets of cheese and other items. Next, we visited a clog (sabot) workshop and watched the clog-making process. The final and main stop was Zaanse Schans. The windmill scenery was beautiful. It would be impossible to see everything on your own. All the tourist spots were crowded, and there were long lines at restaurants and souvenir shops. Since it often takes a while to get food even after ordering, having lunch included is highly recommended. Those who liked sweets were using large waffles and various breads as meal replacements. The usual issue with tours is the morning meeting point. This time it was a place called Aloha, but there was no specific counter, so we had to figure out who was organizing which bus among the large crowd. Therefore, I recommend arriving at the meeting point early. This time, if your name was on the tour guide's smartphone, that was sufficient; there was no QR code check or anything similar. Even though I always arrive early at the meeting point, I still get nervous about making it on time for departure. I chatted with Klook customer service the day before, but they didn't seem to understand the travel agency's system. Also, someone on YouTube introducing this tour mentioned a different meeting point near Aloha and explained that you couldn't board the bus without exchanging your ticket there, and that most tours depart from there! This was also a source of confusion. There's no problem if you arrive early at the meeting point, so I recommend going 30 minutes to an hour beforehand. Thanks to Klook, I can always book in Japanese without any mistakes, which is a great help. Thank you again this time.
The tour was varied and educational. Bea was very professional and had lots of interesting facts to share. The only thing I didn't like was the lunch place making me share a table with other tour mates. It was really awkward.
I am glad to join the package day tour as it saved my time and hassle traveling to and from Zaanse Schans, Edam, Volendum, and Marken. My package included lunch at Volendum and ferry to Marken. For lunch, we were given 2 choices, i.e., fried fish or grilled chicken. It saved us time to look for a restaurant. The ferry only took us 30 minutes to reach Marken from Volendum.
good tour, English parking tour guide, worth the price. the waiting area at ALOHA was a bit far from the central station which is about 13-15minutes walk away. can do without the ferry ride, but can consider the lunch
Itinerary followed as planned, schedule ran smoothly and well. Tour leaders gave very clear explanations about the timing and valuable elaborations about the history and stories.
Excelente relación calidad-precio. El tour estuvo bien organizado y nuestro guía, Rafael, tenía mucha información sobre los lugares que visitamos. Sin duda lo recomendaría.
