Restaurant Environment: A clean and elegant Japanese dining environment, with private rooms or counter seating. Food Taste: Offers all-you-can-eat beef, pork, vegetarian options, and udon noodles. However, continuously eating only one type of beef or pork can become a bit monotonous. Experience: Staff members will carefully inquire and demonstrate the sukiyaki cooking method once. After being seated, a plate of beef 🥩 and vegetables 🥬, along with a bowl of raw egg, will be served. You will then need to cook it yourself. Staff will periodically ask if you'd like more meat, vegetables, or anything else. You have a 2-hour dining limit, and the bill will be presented when your time is almost up. Service: Upon entry, staff members carefully guide you to your private room. Price: For an all-you-can-eat meat 🥩 restaurant in Japan, the price is considered affordable, offering high value for money. Reservations are definitely required, as there can be a long wait for walk-ins.
Leckerer Sukiyaki.
My mother and I booked a month in advance, but we could only get seats at the bar. The bar area was very small, and we had to put our handbags on the floor. The restaurant also wouldn't let us change seats. I saw other pairs of walk-in customers, who hadn't made reservations, being given a corner table for four, and I really couldn't understand this arrangement; I felt a bit wronged. However, the food quality was truly exceptional. The marbling on each slice of beef was excellent, and although the sukiyaki preparation was a little salty, the beef melted in your mouth. Only one woman was working in the restaurant, and she was very dedicated to attending to the needs of every customer. She also helped cook the beef for the first time, and her technique was very skilled and clean. She could arrange the beef and ingredients neatly and quickly. The meticulousness and organization of the Japanese people were absolutely embodied in this woman. What was more regrettable was that there was only one staff member helping, and her English wasn't good. Almost 99% of the customers in the restaurant were tourists, so communication was difficult, but we managed to communicate through gestures.
This restaurant is definitely worth trying, and you need to book in advance to get a table. It's so good, there's no need to say more. What I do need to mention is that Klook charges 30-40% more than the walk-in price. Whether it's worth it is up to you to decide, but if you're going to charge me, you should at least provide the correct address and map. The map provided by Klook (red dot) was 240 meters away from the restaurant's actual location (blue dot). The most outrageous part was Google Maps; if you only search for "Zen," it directs you to a place about 10 blocks away, nearly 800 meters off. In the end, I had to use the Japanese address from the email receipt to find it, which took a full hour. I was half an hour late, but the manager was incredibly kind. Seeing me out of breath, he even used a phone translator to ask if I needed any help – so thoughtful! So, after eating, I left immediately so as not to delay them from closing.
The three of us ordered the sukiyaki hot pot set meal. Later, we felt that eating only sukiyaki was too rich, so we asked if we could add another shabu-shabu soup base (kelp + water). The owner said okay and charged an additional 300 yen per person, which I thought was reasonable. Their wagyu beef is delicious, and the vegetables are also very sweet. You can eat as much as you want, so for friends who love meat, this place is quite good. The only drawback is that most Japanese people don't speak much English. If you need specific vegetables, it's best to show them pictures directly, as translation software can sometimes be inaccurate.
We ordered the A5 Wagyu Sukiyaki, and the server helped us cook the first slice, arranging the vegetables beautifully. The beef, dipped in egg yolk, was tender and delicious. With the A5 set meal, you can also order different cuts of meat, which is highly recommended!
The beef is incredibly delicious, melting in your mouth. It's definitely worth coming back for. The staff are friendly, and the food is served quickly. The pork is also excellent.
The Sukiyaki Kuroge Wagyu beef is delicious. You can add more after eating. We booked dinner, and the environment and service were excellent. Great value for money 👍👍👍
Overall very good food, but was disappointed that the set we paid for was a lower tier package, which we realized we could have just made our own reservation with the restaurant, and saved the exorbitant booking fee.
Zen Sapporo Shabu Shabu is honestly one of those places you go to when you just want really good beef and a chill hot pot experience. Their beef is the highlight—super thin slices with nice marbling, and once you dip it in the broth, it cooks almost instantly and turns really soft and flavorful. It’s not the kind of beef that gets heavy after a few bites either, which is nice because you’ll actually want to keep eating more. You can really taste the quality, especially when you pair it with the sauces—ponzu if you want something light, sesame if you’re feeling a bit richer. What I like is how everything just feels easy and enjoyable. The beef is consistently tender, no weird chewy parts, and it’s sliced just right for shabu-shabu. The whole setup makes it fun too, just cooking at your own pace and mixing flavors however you want. Yeah, it’s a bit pricey compared to other spots, but for the quality you’re getting, it kinda makes sense. If you’re a beef lover, this place worth trying.
