Right at Pier 6, just wait for the staff to explain how to scan the QR code and board the boat. Can you believe it? Whales were swimming right next to the boat, and there were four of them! Although encountering whales is a matter of luck, it was definitely worth enduring such choppy waves! I took all these photos with my phone, and they're so close, which shows how near they really were. And their calls were so clear, like dinosaur roars!
The whale watching captain arrived at the port on time and provided a lively and detailed explanation. The captain was quick to spot the direction where whales appeared, though taking photos was a bit difficult; it's best to simply enjoy the sight with your own eyes.
The captain was very experienced, chasing humpback whales, and seeing them leap out of the sea was a rare and worthwhile experience!
So lucky that the whale was so close to the boat and they were quite active during the morning that have seen them several times during the trip. One small tip is that the ferry is aboard close to the aquarium. We almost missed the ferry as it just said the meeting point is Darling harbour and we went to the other side of the harbour. Allow some time as the crew will have a talk on the safety matters before getting on the boat.
Departing from Darling Harbour, you'll enjoy an unobstructed view of iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. There are many whales, so there's a high chance of seeing them, and you might even be lucky enough to witness whales breaching. However, the waves can be rough, making the boat very bumpy, so it's not suitable for those prone to seasickness. About half the people on board were too sick to stand, missing the entire whale-watching opportunity, though sick bags were provided on the boat.
If you have a ticket from Klook, you don't need to contact the booth first. You can go directly to Wharf 6 to board the boat (on the actual day, people were queuing at the booth, which caused a bit of confusion about whether we needed to join the queue). The first time I went, the waves were high. I was seasick the whole way after the boat departed and didn't see any whales. They gave us a ticket to come back for another trip. The second time, we used the complimentary ticket. This time, the weather was good, and we saw the whales waving their tails to greet us. We were very happy. P.S. My dad forgot his wallet on the boat, and the tour company kept it safe for him. Thank you very much.
It's easy to use by simply scanning the QR code received via email. The sea can be rough, and it's advisable to take a motion sickness pill if you need one. The chances of seeing whales, whether close or far, depend on luck. It happens quickly and can be difficult to capture in photos or videos. It's a fun activity, provided you don't get motion sickness.
I saw whales for the first time. This time, it was very windy, so I got very seasick. Make sure to bring motion sickness medication; it was a truly special experience.
We were so lucky to see the whale! And the crew were so nice. It was very windy and bumpy that day, so we recommend that those who choose this trip bring enough warm clothing (jacket, beanie) and take motion sickness pills before boarding. A few people experienced quite severe seasickness that day. Overall, a very memorable experience.
This was my first time whale watching, and we saw whales during the trip, which was amazing! There were also hot drinks available on board!
