The agent contacted us the day before and informed us that the waterfall was temporarily closed due to damaged facilities. We had to change to another trip, visiting Monkey Mountain, the park dedicated to the great Thai king, and a vineyard. We were a bit disappointed, but the substitute trip wasn't bad. From Monkey Mountain, you can get a very nice view of Hua Hin beach, and the vineyard was amazing too. We ordered some food at the vineyard, and it was surprisingly yummy.
The waterfall hike was interesting, but it required climbing and wading, so it's recommended to wear sneakers or even hiking shoes and choose a sunny day, otherwise the muddy paths will be slippery. The winery had no grapes in July (the guide said there would be most in February), but it was still a comfortable place. The guide also took us to the famous local Wat Tham Suea (Tiger Cave Temple) for worship and to a pineapple farm that had no pineapples, allowing us to stretch our legs during the long drive. The only regret was that although lunch was stated to be Thai, it was actually Chinese stir-fries, and the taste was just average.
The itinerary was wonderful and packed with beautiful scenery, opportunities to get close to nature, and fish feeding. The winery had stunning views, and the optional lunch was delicious – definitely worth a visit! The tour guide and driver were attentive, had excellent attitudes, provided thoughtful service, and drove very skillfully!
Better than my expectation, the route is nice with the experienced tour guide. Not much people choosing this plan when we were there so it was a very nice environment and we thought the waterfall part was the most interesting one.
It was an enjoyable trip, probably because the weather was just fine for waterfall outing, only cloudy but no rain. It required a bit of strength and energy to walk and sometimes climb the rocks, and the rock surface will be slippery. our guide was good, and overall it was safe. Wear walking shoes, no slippers is a must. Funny experience as you can swim under the waterfall with the fish. In the afternoon, the guide brought us to Monsoon Valley vineyard and tasting of 3 glasses of wine was included in the package. The place was beautiful and wine was good.
We were met by Mr Noi in the hotel lobby promptly at 8:30 AM. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience about Thailand and the region. I would say that this tour not only enriched my experience but also made it a learning journey for me. Highly recommended. The waterfall has its limitations as it is constrained by rainfall, water level, and your own ability. On our tour day, it was only possible to go up to Level 4. The vineyard was great, and we had a wine tasting there. Photo Caption: This was us after the waterfall "expedition".
The guides and drivers were kind and provided clear explanations.
The pick-up and drop-off were punctual, the vehicle was spacious enough, and the driving was smooth. The local English-speaking guide was very responsible and provided detailed explanations. The entire trip was quite good, but you need to have good stamina.
Booked for 3 people on March 2, 2025, at NT$2615 per person. The cost is not cheap, and for this price, the itinerary content is not rich enough, offering low value for money. 8:30 AM: The driver arrived punctually at the hotel lobby to pick us up. The car was a comfortable 8-seater. 1. We stopped at a pineapple field for a photo break along the way. Nothing special. 2. We walked to see the waterfalls in the national park. There are 15 layers of waterfalls, but only up to the 5th layer was open. From the 3rd to the 5th layer, some sections of the path involved walking on riverbed stones, requiring careful passage. The guide walked very fast and rarely looked back to check on the tourists, offering little help or assistance on more difficult sections. Lunch: 3 home-style dishes with rice. The dishes were simple and not refined. Drinks were self-paid. 3. The winery tour was particularly disappointing. The environment was nice. The itinerary only included tasting 3 types of wine (red, white, rosé) at the restaurant, with no accompanying snacks or dedicated explanation. If there had been a guided tour of the winery, it wouldn't have felt so empty and rudimentary. After all, we booked a private guided tour, not just a car charter to a specific destination. The overall itinerary felt a bit too simple and perfunctory; it should have been more substantial and refined.
Tour Guide was very friendly and helpful throughout the trip. He ensured that the hike at Pa-La-U waterfall was safe and enjoyable. It would have been better if the Monsoon Valley vineyard provide a short tour of the place or wine-making process.
