I chose the three-hour tour. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very smiley, lovely lady (I'm sorry, I forgot her name). There were drinks and lovely snacks. We had a very informative chat about what they do at this sanctuary and why. She made it fun by asking us questions and having us guess, for example, the age and weight of the elephants. She had so much passion. She explained that they had four elephants and that each elephant has a mahout. The elephant chooses their mahout, and they get to make an emotional connection, which can take up to two weeks to three months. Then they are paired for life and are together 24/7. The mahout and their family stay at the sanctuary; the bond is for life. The background information was sad, but life now is great. We watched one elephant naturally take a bath. They roam where they want, and the mahout follows to protect each other. Afterwards, we had a fantastic meal. I would 100% recommend this sanctuary. It gave me a feeling of peace, and that the elephants were well looked after and came first. So please, please go; you will also remember this for life.
My wife and I had an amazing time at the elephant sanctuary. Seeing these majestic creatures and knowing that they no longer have to work and are treated with such love and respect; was incredible!! I would highly recommend going to this ethical sanctuary to see and learn more about Asian elephants.
Really good ethical elephant experience, quite new to the area. pick up was on time and the guides were very knowledgeable would highly recommend over the “bathe with elephants” trips which aren’t ethical.
