Great day trip to Xi'an from Beijing if you are short on time. The high-speed train was new, clean, and comfortable. It was crowded on the way out of Beijing at 7 am but empty on the late-night 7 pm train back from Xi'an. The driver met us at the hotel lobby on time at 5 am and brought us to the train station, all the way to the platform for boarding the train. After 4.5 hours, we arrived in Xi'an; take note when to disembark as it’s not the last stop for the train. Our tour guide Catherine and driver were waiting for us at the Xi'an arrival hall. After a smooth 45-minute drive to the Terracotta Museum, we decided to tour the museum first as our guide also felt that a 12ish timing would be less crowded (although it was already too crowded for our liking). Catherine, our tour guide, shared her knowledge wonderfully. She speaks fluent English and showed us all the important sights at the Terracotta Museum. There’s a photo stop for tourists (10 yuan per person if you take a pic with your phone). After the tour, we went for lunch at the eateries outside the Terracotta Museum. There were lots of eateries with a variety of choices – do try the Biang Biang noodles, a Xi'an highlight. We managed to visit Muslim Street and the Drum Tower as well, as we did a quick 2-hour tour at the Terracotta Museum. Do try to take the first and last trains of the day like us if you would like to see a bit more of Xi'an, and inform the tour agent buying the train tickets beforehand. All in all, we had a great but very tiring day trip and only arrived back at our hotel past midnight. All the transfers and the tour guide were great. BUT we had to pay more for the compulsory earphones (20 yuan each) at the Terracotta Museum and for the optional buggy (5 yuan each) to the Terracotta Museum – we thought these would be included in the tour, considering the expensive price tag of this tour, but they weren’t.
Lucky to find this tour on Klook, it's very convenient for a day trip. This is a private tour and does not include lunch. Besides the Terracotta Army, you can request to visit the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang without extra charge.
lovely while day trip. everyone so kind and the arrangements were excellent. the drivers and the pick up points exactly as promised. wonderful day highly recommended
If you are pressed for time and want to see Terracota warriors from and back to Beijing in a day, this is the BEST way to do it! Seamless, worry-free and convenient way to travel to Xian. The 2 drivers were excellent and courteous and our tour guide, Lucky, was the best. She was very patient explaining the history of the terracota warriors. She picked us up at the Xianbei station and brought us back there too for our return trip. As soon as you purchase the tickets, in less than 30 minutes, someone will email/get in touch with you to finalize the plan. While it may seem expensive at first, the convenience it brings is worth it!
Our tour was very well organised and communication was good. Our Guide Tina was very knowledgeable about The Terracotta warriors. She did a wonderful job and is very professional. The driver Mr Zhao was very kind and proffesional. Tina also took us out to lunch, we had biang biang noodles.
Sophia has been a most wonderful guide for us, replete with extensive and deep historical knowledge of the Qin dynasty and the development of the Terracota Army. She has taken us on an insightful tour of the eighth wonder of the world and something that we will always remember by.
The driver was on time and extremely helpful. However, the guide seemed to be in a bit of a rush. Prepare food for the train ride; I only managed to buy limited snacks onboard. But do note they have restrictions on liquids.
