Passe Digital Tobu Kawagoe

Day 3 of our Tokyo trip! The weather suddenly turned nice, so I wanted to take a train and go a bit further! So, I decided to head to Kawagoe! You can take an express train from Ikebukuro to Kawagoe Station (or Kawagoe-shi Station! This one is a bit closer to the tourist attractions). When entering each station, just show your QR code to the station attendant and you're good to go! At Ikebukuro Station, open the info desk door next to the ticket gate, show your QR code, and pass right through! It was super convenient. I went around 10 AM and came back to Tokyo at 3 PM! Highly recommended. If you don't want to walk much in Kawagoe, buy a ticket that includes the bus!

On the last morning in Tokyo, we spontaneously decided to visit Kawagoe, so we immediately purchased tickets, which could be used right after buying. This pass allows you to take the Tobu Tojo Line train from Ikebukuro to Kawagoe Station. It's highly recommended to take the limited express train to save time (we confirmed there's no extra limited express fee). Please note that when entering and exiting stations with an e-ticket, you need to use the manual inspection gate. For our group of three, only one person needed to show the QR code to the station staff or bus driver. The bus stop bells in Kawagoe are super cute, shaped like sweet potatoes, and each design is unique.

It's super useful to go to Kawagoe via the Tobu-Tojo Line at Ikebukuro Station. Just show your pass to the train staff at the gate. You can also ride the bus by showing the QR code. It's worth it; two bus trips and a round-trip train ride paid for itself.

Tobu Kawagoe is a fantastic destination for a day trip from Tokyo. Kawagoe, often referred to as "Little Edo," is a charming town with a rich history and culture. Having a Tobu Kawagoe digital pass makes it more convenient to explore the town.

July is truly scorching hot, and the blazing midday sun isn't ideal for strolling around Kawagoe. If you're planning to eat at Ogakiku Unagi, you'll need to get a number ticket first and then return later. We waited for about an hour and a half. Be aware that the restaurant's lunch service ends at 2:30 PM, so the number of tickets is limited. Kawagoe Station itself is great for exploring; definitely don't take the train to Kawagoeshi, as it's quite remote. Also, Ogakiku's fried loach is absolutely delicious and a must-try!

Online purchase allows direct entry and exit. When taking a train or bus, simply show the QR code to the driver or station staff. It's very convenient and super friendly for travelers wanting to go from Tokyo city to Kawagoe. Kawagoe is a small town with a strong Edo-period atmosphere, and walking through its alleys is very pleasant. The soy sauce dango is absolutely delicious 😋. This ticket allows you to travel from Ikebukuro to Kawagoe-shi Station. You can take an express train, arriving in about half an hour, which is very convenient. After exiting the station, it's very easy to get to attractions such as Toki no Kane (Bell of Time), Taisho Roman Yume-dori (Taisho Romantic Dream Street), and Kumano Shrine. Furthermore, there's no need to exchange for a physical ticket; simply show the QR code to staff to enter and exit the platform, which is extremely convenient.

It is very convenient as we didn’t have to go to some counter to buy the pass. And when we rode the bus or train, we just can show the digital pass only one time for multiple people. Highly recommended if you want to go to Kawagoe without much hassle.

Many small shops are great for browsing. We explored from afternoon until dusk, and when the streetlights came on, it created a unique and beautiful scene!
