Inverness

Mijn gids en chauffeur voor die dag was Keith (26 mei). Ik koos voor de Loch Ness en Hooglanden tour. De rit was zeer informatief en leerzaam, ik kon de geschiedenis van Schotland en de Hooglanden echt waarderen. De gebieden waar we naartoe gingen en de natuur waren ook prachtig. De rit voelde veilig en ik kon onderweg ook genieten van het landschap.

Itinerary: Arranged by the travel agency, but sometimes mixed with a Scottish accent, so your English listening skills need to be strong enough to understand the guides along the way. Accommodation choices: Fantastic, most of them were quite good, but some require cash, so be sure to check in advance whether credit cards are accepted. Tour guide: Excellent. The spots visited were all amazing, and being a local, the explanations were spot on. If you're interested in history, listening to them is definitely the right choice. Attractions: Each one was better than the last, making every penny spent well worth it.

Vanaf het kanaal tot aan het kasteel zijn er tussenstops, en de comfortabele rondvaartboot met boeiende gidscommentaar, terwijl u geniet van de pracht van Loch Ness, maakt het een zeer ontspannende toeristische activiteit. Het zou nog beter zijn als deze activiteit ook tijd voor een kasteelbezoek zou omvatten.

Een leuke, lange maar niet vermoeiende of saaie tour. Alle plaatsen konden volgens plan worden bezocht en er was zelfs een extra bezoek aan de 'hairy coos' aan het einde, nadat we aan het begin van de tour geen tijd hadden gehad om foto's te maken vanwege het winkelen. De prijs was redelijk concurrerend en het tourteam was professioneel. Een goede ervaring.

De algehele ervaring was uitstekend en het ontmoetingspunt was erg handig! De gids en chauffeur waren dezelfde persoon, en hij was zeer ervaren in het rijden door de Schotse Hooglanden en had een schat aan kennis. De hele tour omvatte veel plaatsen, en onderweg konden we uitstappen om foto's te maken. Vanwege het onstabiele weer in Schotland zag de gids op de terugweg dat het weer verbeterde, waardoor we een paar minuten konden uitstappen om foto's te maken van plekken waar we eerder waren geweest.

For anyone with a Loch Ness obsession, this is a very high-value tour that unlocks the Scottish Highlands and Loch Ness in a single day. A significant portion of the time is spent on the bus, and upon arriving at Loch Ness, you stay for about an hour, with the boat cruise taking up 50 minutes. The partner cruise company for this tour is Cruise Loch Ness, departing and returning to the same port, so you won't see Urquhart Castle at all (only tours departing from Inverness go there). It is recommended that as soon as you arrive at Loch Ness, you quickly head to the 'Loch Ness View Point Fort Augustus' spot on Google Maps to take a photo with the Loch Ness sign before boarding the boat. The outdoor second floor of the boat is very windy, while the indoor first floor has heating, and the windows on all four sides have Nessie graphics; we had a lot of fun taking pictures with these designs. The lake view itself is pretty, but has no other distinct features. The scenery of the Scottish Highlands is very similar to Iceland and quite beautiful, but the most stunning views are along the road. There are two or three stops in between to photograph the Highland landscape, plus a spot to take pictures of Highland cows. Because the driving distance from Edinburgh is very long, and UK regulations limit the daily working hours of drivers and tour guides to a maximum of 12 hours, you will feel quite rushed. However, for checking it off your bucket list, it offers great value. If you want to truly experience the charm of the Scottish Highlands, a multi-day tour or a self-drive trip is recommended. Also, the single malt Scotch whisky ice cream at Scotch corner is delicious—you have to eat it no matter how cold it is!

Our tourguide Callum is so impressive! He was a very safe driver, a podcaster, a DJ, and a tourguide all in 1 as he drove us through the highlands. While the weather was foggy and that meant that some of the scenery were not the clearest - that's also the beauty of the Scottish Highlands, is it not?;)

Excellent ! Lawrence took good care of us and gave us an unforgettable experience… we were with kids and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience !

Enjoyed a comfortable small-group tour with Timberbush guide Ben. He kept everything on time and all the spots fitted in nicely and comfortably with no hurries. Great locations for a general experience of the Highlands. Besides the main spots in Glenfinnan and Loch Ness, particularly enjoyed the small village of Mallaig and was able to catch the locks in action in Fort Augustus. Ben had a nice playlist of songs of contemporary Scottizh folk music which made the long drives enjoyable with the views and had some nice bits of trivia here and there along the way.
