Klook, Asia's leading platform for experiences and travel services, announces its collaboration with Switzerland Tourism (ST). The Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) signifies a three-year cooperation at the product level aimed at reaching out to more individual travelers from Asia, encouraging longer stays, increasing traveler spending, and boosting the distribution of Swiss Travel Passes. With a particular focus on the autumn seasons of 2024 and 2025, the goal is to achieve an even more balanced distribution of visitors in Switzerland throughout the year. Among foreign guests, the Swiss Travel Pass (STP) is the most popular travel ticket to explore Switzerland in an environmentally friendly way using public transportation. Klook has become one of the largest global distributors of the Swiss Travel Pass product portfolio.

Empowering the Swiss sustainable tourism movement

The initiative that was signed underscores ST’s commitment to promoting sustainable tourism in Switzerland. The collaboration between with Klook will enhance the appeal of Switzerland as a sustainable destination, particularly for Asian visitors. The cooperation between the two organizations will make a sustainable contribution to tourism value creation and the tourism industry in Switzerland.
“I am proud and delighted that Klook and ST are joining forces to expand the portfolio of the Swiss touristic products in the area of sustainable travel. We are now working together to offer travel products to Asian guests that contribute to sustainability in Switzerland. Our focus especially lies on the autumn season to promote all-year tourism and to ensure the balanced journey of our guests throughout the country”, Martin Nydegger, CEO of ST, informs gladly.
Nydegger and Wilfred Fan, Klook’s Chief Commercial Officer, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation today in Geneva. Over the next three years, even more Swiss service providers who are part of the market's Swisstainable program (only in German and French) will be added to Klook's product portfolio.
"Tourism is currently experiencing a significant transformation, driven by a new generation of digitally-savvy travelers who crave larger, bolder, and more frequent experiences over physical goods. We’re observing a 225% growth in the past 12 months of bookings from travelers in Asia coming to Switzerland to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural offerings. Through our partnership with Switzerland Tourism, we are thrilled to empower Asian travelers to discover the beauty of Switzerland and enjoy a diverse range of unique and unforgettable experiences,” says Wilfred Fan, Chief Commercial Officer, Klook.
In 2021, ST together with the entire Swiss tourism industry launched the movement and programme Swisstainable with a mission to promote sustainable tourism in Switzerland. Swisstainable encompasses the whole bandwidth of sustainability: the environment, the economy, and the society. Through the signed cooperation, ST and Klook are encouraging further Swiss tourism providers to get involved in the Swisstainable programme and this way become part of Klook’s new product range.
In 2024, the focus of the collaboration will be on selected markets such as Southeast Asia, Korea, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, with India and Japan as development markets
