Klook, a leading pan-regional experiences platform in Asia Pacific, has formed a strategic partnership with the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) to launch a fully integrated, real-time rail booking service designed to help travelers explore beyond Seoul and into Korea’s regional destinations.
The move adds KORAIL's national network, from high-speed KTX to regional Saemaul and Mugunghwa lines, to Klook's established rail portfolio across Asia Pacific covering over 99% of high speed rail stations, deepening its supply strength in transportation as a core vertical. The partnership comes as Korea cements its status as a global tourism powerhouse targeting 30 million annual tourists, and ranking fifth on Klook’s Travel Pulse 2026 list of “must-visit destinations”. By connecting real-time rail inventory with global booking and payment capabilities, the integration removes longstanding barriers that international travelers face when planning rail travel in Korea.
"As rail is a core means of transportation for international tourists in Korea, we aimed to enhance both accessibility and scalability through this integrated system," said James Lee, General Manager of Klook Korea. "Moving forward, we will expand travel products linked to rail travel and continue to evolve our services so that international tourists can easily experience various regions across Korea."
Encouraging Tourism Dispersal Across Korea
Klook’s internal data signals growing demand for regional exploration. Based on year-on-year Q1 growth, the fastest-rising destinations outside Seoul include Busan, Gangneung, Chungcheongnam, Jeonju, Sokcho, and Seogwipo.
This mirrors a broader trend from Klook Travel Pulse 2026, where two-thirds of Millennial and Gen Z travelers prefer multi-destination trips, using capital cities as gateways to explore further. Rail is already central to that movement with 32% of inbound travelers to South Korea identifying it as their primary mode of transport.
By making nationwide rail travel easier to book globally, the partnership supports a wider push toward tourism dispersal, encouraging visitors to travel beyond major cities and channel tourism spending into regional communities.
A Seamless Rail Booking Experience for Global Travelers
The integration turns Korea’s rail network into an easier gateway for international travelers.
What international travelers can expect:
- Real-Time Global Access: Instant seat availability and scheduling up to 90 days in advance, accessible in over 20 languages and 40 currencies.
- Frictionless Payments: Convenient payment options including major international cards and local digital wallets.
- Ease of Travel: Instant confirmation and boarding with a digital ticket, skipping station queues and printing tickets.
Building Klook’s transportation supply
The KORAIL partnership strengthens Klook’s transportation supply in Korea by adding KORAIL’s national rail network to its existing rail portfolio across Asia Pacific, alongside its bus and car rental offerings in South Korea. To amplify the partnership, Klook, KORAIL, and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) will launch a global joint promotion featuring Rail+ connectivity incentives. Together, these efforts support easier discovery, stronger regional access, and more balanced tourism growth across Korea.
