Klook, a leading pan-regional experiences platform in Asia Pacific, has partnered with the Korea Shipping Association (KSA) to streamline domestic passenger ferry reservations for foreign tourists and boost regional tourism across South Korea.
On 7 September, the two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to build a foreign-friendly coastal ferry booking system, enabling international travelers to seamlessly book domestic maritime routes through Klook as coverage expands nationwide.
Building on its existing coverage as the first OTA to offer major maritime routes such as Pohang–Ulleungdo, Ulleungdo–Dokdo, Wando–Jeju, and Mokpo–Jeju, Klook is officially broadening its services to include regional coastal ferry routes. The official service covering these expanded routes is set to launch in the fourth quarter of 2026, followed by sequential additions of remaining routes.
This collaboration directly addresses common operational hurdles faced by independent foreign visitors, such as localized identity verification, language barriers, and payment constraints. By leveraging Klook’s multi-language support across more than 15 languages alongside 40+ global currencies and localized digital payment options, international travelers can now reserve ferry journeys using their preferred language and familiar payment methods.
Through this initiative, Klook and the KSA aim to encourage foreign tourists to explore South Korea's islands and coastal destinations beyond traditional metropolitan hubs, extending visitor stays and driving sustainable economic growth within local communities.
James Lee Junho, General Manager of Klook Korea, stated: "Korea offers many attractive destinations across its islands and coastal regions. However, foreign travelers have faced relative difficulty using ferry services due to language barriers and limited payment options. Through this partnership with the Korea Shipping Association, we will create an environment where foreign tourists can use domestic ferries seamlessly and support them in discovering more diverse regions of Korea."
This maritime expansion further strengthens Klook’s comprehensive domestic transit ecosystem designed to facilitate regional mobility for inbound travelers. As an official partner of the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) and the Korea Express Bus Lines Association, Klook operates real-time booking services alongside a variety of mobility options, including car rentals, airport transfers, and local public transport.
