The property is located in the downtown area. Close walk to all the external restaurants and shopping. The beds were way too soft. It felt like you were sleeping on a bag of marshmallows. The pillows were so thin you had to fold it in half to make it work. And if you wanted another one it was 500 Islandic Kronos extra per pillow. The scrambled eggs and beans at breakfast buffet were cold.

The hotel is quite old & badly needs updating especially the bathrooms! Room are small but adequate but the beds need to be changed. Breakfast was ok but staff didn’t want you to make a sandwich for lunch. Parking is limited & there’s not a lot to do in Akureyri. I think there are better hotel options in Akureyri such as the Hotel Centrum. All & al not too impressed!

I booked a triple room with Expedia and the listing says: three twin beds. Hotel Kea gave me: two twin beds and a sofa bed... If i wanted a sofa bed i could have booked anywhere else... When we told Hotel Kea our rooms were incorrect they said there was nothing that they can do. Maybe there was some sort of miscommunication between Expedia and Hotel Kea. But if you were to book a hotel, why take the risk? I recommend you book elsewhere and save yourself the trouble.

Perfect location. Can’t really beat the convenience of the location—at the very heart of Akureyri: shops and stores all around the hotel, even their iconic church is just a few steps away from outside! In general, the rooms are clean and stylish and we’ve had a pleasant experience staying here. However, the only downside would be the loud sounds of the cars passing by the roads

Window in room was broken so handle didnt close the window - wind was very loud all night struggled to sleep, Bathroom was outdated and very compact. Staff was lovely and friendly and very helpful, they were the highlight of my stay.
