Nice hotel and location very convenient

Great location, room is super nice and clean, great view to Gurney Bay. Staff are helpful. Highly recommended

Breakfast should be included

We had a very pleasant stay overall. For a refurbished property, the room was impressively clean, spacious, and well-maintained. The views were beautiful too—whether facing the city or the sea, both offered a lovely backdrop to our stay. The staff throughout the hotel were warm, helpful, and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Their hospitality was genuinely appreciated. We slept very well for most of our stay. However, on our final night, there were recurring loud sounds coming from the water piping system between approximately 1am and 3am. I’m not certain of the cause, but it was noticeable enough to disrupt our sleep. It may be worth having the piping checked. The pool area was pleasant and enjoyable. One small suggestion would be to have staff make occasional rounds to monitor tidiness and safety around the pool. There were quite a few crows around during our visit, and they seemed rather interested in guests’ belongings left on the sunbeds. Breakfast was another highlight—generous in variety and well-prepared. I would happily recommend it, especially for guests looking to avoid the more tourist-oriented prices around the Gurney Drive area while still enjoying a satisfying meal. Overall, it was a great stay with excellent value, comfortable accommodations, and wonderful service. With a little attention to the unusual water piping noise, the experience would have been even better.

This is my second at this property.The room and facilities are modern and relatively new and well kept. However, the staff needs to be better trained. On the last day of our stay (our rooms had late checkout), we went back to the rooms to prepare for checkout, but we were locked out of the room. We went down to reception and the staff said she fixed the issue, so we went back up again only to find the keys still didn't work. So we went to reception again and was told it was fixed for the 2nd time. Upon reaching the room, the keys still didn't work. We had to go to reception for the 3rd time before we can finally enter the rooms. The staff didn't apologise or make any effort to call for additional assistance and was quite indifferent to the situation. We stayed at so many properties before and if a similar room lock out situation occurred, the other properties would have asked a staff to accompany the guest to check on the room after the 2nd attempt failed, but unfortunately, this was not the case here. A good property only to be let down by bad service.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Ascott Gurney Penang. The hotel offers great amenities, the rooms are comfortable, and the overall atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxing. One of the highlights of our stay was the excellent buffet breakfast with a wide variety of delicious food choices each morning. We would especially like to recognize Sity and Jensen at the restaurant. They truly went the extra mile to make sure we were well taken care of. Their warm hospitality, attentiveness, and dedication to their work really stood out. You can clearly see the pride they take in providing excellent service, even while working very hard during the busy breakfast hours. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay such an enjoyable experience. We would gladly stay here again when visiting Penang.

Clean stylish and ultra large room, good breakfast, friendly staff at breakfast, convenient location
