Maintenance is lacking…at least in our room…the doors look like they’ve been around for the past 50 years and just painted (poorly), the shaving mirror looks like it’s ready to fall off the wall, the exhaust vent in the washroom is the original…again looking 50 years old, the heating baseboard is falling apart……although they have done upgrades they failed in not completing them (likely to reduce costs). The main entrance and amenities are excellent and recently upgraded giving you the impression when you walk in that it’s a great hotel, but failed when it comes to the rooms. Overall I was not impressed, especially for the price they’re charging.

Excellent location, restaurant on site , also offers free E bike rental. Loved our stay

When walking into the Elk + Avenue Hotel the lobby is absolutely stunning, so you would expect the entire hotel to be that way... wrong. The rooms are budget at best. We spent 8 days exploring Banff and Jasper and this was definitely my least favorite hotel. The rooms are super dated and in need of some TLC. Our shower was also broken - the rain shower portion wouldn't work, so we had to use the wand. The two best things about this hotel are the underground parking ($10 CAD/night) and the location to downtown. Parking was super convenient and we were able to take the elevator from the garage directly to a few doors down from our room (located on the 1st floor). Bed was also very comfy. Wouldn't stay here again if we ever came back to Banff.
