Very nice

Good location and nice hotel

This was a two part stay because we liked the hotel and location so much we canceled a reservation and booked another room here. I visited a lot of hotels in Edinburgh and stayed at one other. The Intercontinental is an excellent choice if staying in one hotel in Edinburgh. Recommend a higher floor (6 or 7) in the newer part because you will get some sort of view over the city, but it's not essential.

We had two different rooms on the 6th floor because we like the hotel and the area so much we canceled our move to a different hotel. Excellent friendly staff, well maintained comfortable rooms, wonderful breakfast buffet and menu choices, great bar and restaurant. Typical good service from an IHG Intercontinental hotel. George Street is wonderful we walked everywhere and the tram is nearby for Leith, the airport and points between. Fantastic food and shopping all around this area. We had a deluxe king room with city view, sizeable with a sitting area, wide view out to the Firth of Forth. Then a premium king room and although no view advertised, still a nice look over the city and to one side a view of Edinburgh Castle. You'll be well cared for and comfortable at the Intercontinental the George.

Very confusing floor plan if your room is not located in the main “tower”. We were required to take 2 different elevators with confusing directions to get to our room. Room was very dusty and carpet in room was visibly stained. However the staff was very friendly and helpful and the on site bar and restaurant was great. I will find something on Prince St. for our next stay.

Bar food was delicious. Conveniently located for the activities we had planned. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Very well located in New Town area. Very nice breakfast. But for an Intercontinental needs upgrades to the building and rooms. Dated look all around.

From the greeting at the entrance to the staff at reception everyone was friendly and proved a pleasant experience of being greeted with a smile. The hotel room was clean and well appointed with a lovely view. The hotel is located in a perfect location for seeing the city. Restaurants and shopping are on the door steps. I walked to the Royal Botanics and the old town. I will stay at the Intercontinental again in my next visit to Edinburgh.

The staff was friendly and helpful. I recommend staying and hope to return again someday
