On the day I was traveling, Yufuin no Mori 5 wasn't operating, so I had booked the Limited Express Yufu instead. However, a few days before departure, Yufuin no Mori 5 showed as available for change, so I tried paying the extra fee and changing my reservation, but it kept failing repeatedly. Thankfully, though, the change went through two days prior, and I arrived safely using Yufuin no Mori 5. When you go to JR, check the electronic board for your platform before entering the ticket gates. You need to insert both tickets you received at the same time. I didn't know that, so I had to ask a crew member. The waterfall you briefly see out the window is a really small, distant one and isn't much to look at, so you don't need to take Yufuin no Mori just for the waterfall. I think it's fine just to book the train that fits your schedule best. They sell small cheesecakes, donuts, and beer in the second car. There's no heavy food to fill you up, so if you haven't eaten, you can buy something beforehand and eat it on board. By Jaehoon. If this was helpful, please leave a like.
