Stunning hotel in a superb location. Lovely rooms, fantastic breakfast, super friendly and helpful staff. We explored mostly on foot directly from the hotel.

The hotel was well located in the busy Gion area. It was a calm and peaceful and well landscaped. The room cleaning was basic. They changed the towels and made the beds and took out the trash, nothing more. They informed me that the hotel nightly rate dropped but they couldn’t extend the discount. I felt like a lot of Kyoto was a money grab.

Truly can't say enough good things about this hotel in Kyoto. Just a beautiful hotel. From the moment you walk in, the service is top notch with staff so friendly and attentive our entire stay. Most speak English so we had no communication difficulties during our stay. They even helped us book dinner at a restaurant outside of the hotel for a large group of 10 (which is not easy to do in Kyoto). The rooms are big, very sleek, large bathroom with separate sink, shower/bath, and toilet areas. The beds are very comfortable and we had a nice city/mountain view through a large window. We also had a small table and chairs in our room. The hotel has a beautiful lobby atrium with a wall of windows with all sorts of greenery making it feel like an urban oasis. The breakfast buffet is incredible. High quality food with an impressive assortment of Japanese and Western options. And we thought the 4400Y was reasonable (considering we spent 6000Y in Tokyo for a lower quality buffet). Reasonable room service prices too (especially without the need to tip). Location is great near many restaurants, attractions, and trains. Though Kyoto is a large city, the hotel feels tucked away and rather private. Would absolutely stay here again.
