From the moment we arrived we were greeted warmly by the multilingual staff and the calming ambiance of relaxing music and natural views from the large library windows. The staff was helpful I holding our bags and calling a taxi for us to take us to our afternoon site seeing before our check in. Thoughtful amenities such as coffee, tea, and popcicles were offered in the lobby at no extra charge. The private onsen was a perfect option for us a couple so that we were able to enjoy the onsen together. The onsen itself was a fully covered outdoor wooden tub over looking the river and mountain side. The room was ample and beautifully decorated in a comfortable mixture of Japanese traditional and western furniture. Our room had a seating area with a view of the river, and the Yukatas and house shoes were provided. We opted for the Kaizeki dinner and breakfast, and both meals were excellent, offering a wonderful sample of local food. If you are a westerner with a less adventurous pallet, I would suggest skipping the dinner option and finding a restaurant in town. Breakfast had plenty of good options for most guests. Overall, we had an excellent experience.

Wonderful stay in a perfect location. The food exceeded expectations, and everything was convenient and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Excellent view of the river. Room was clean and staff was very friendly. Our 9 course meal was amazing! Outside of building walls could use some cleaning.
