The hotel has great kids entertainment with lots of options in the pools with slides and a lazy river. There’s a quieter pool close to the beach with a bar and restaurant if you want to escape the noise of the children’s pool. The service around the pool was generally terrible. It rained heavy off and on the first 3 days we were there and the pool staff just folded up the mats on the pool chairs so all the water just sat inside them and then they reopened them when it stopped. No one bothered to dry the chairs so there was no where to sit. You also cannot get clean pool towels during the day. They drop towels at your room door in the morning and that’s it. There’s no where to get clean ones during the day and if you ask for them that won’t give them to you. So when it starts raining you end up having to carry wet towels in and out of the pool all day, very annoying and frustrating. The breakfast was atrocious, the worst I have ever seen in a resort (and we have stayed in many). Very poor quality and selection. The food in general was horrible. Very basic and poor selection for kids, we only ate dinner once there as it was so bad. The cleanliness in the rooms needs to be improved, arriving into a room and seeing hair in the bathroom is disgusting. The showers need a good disinfectant. The daily housekeepers deliver towels and make the beds, there’s no cleaning happening day to day, our hand basins where not even wiped down. Overall very disappointing.

Our stay at The Sands Khao Lak was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The resort is beautiful, immaculately maintained, and perfectly located right on the beach. The pools were incredible, with plenty of space for both families and adults to relax, and the beach itself was peaceful and stunning. What really made our stay special was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was warm, friendly, and genuinely eager to help. Their hospitality made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived until the day we left. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, and the breakfast buffet was one of the best we’ve experienced, with a huge variety of delicious options each morning. There were plenty of activities for our kids, making it a wonderful destination for families, while still offering quiet spaces to unwind. We left with amazing memories and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again on a future trip to Thailand. Thank you to everyone at The Sands Khao Lak for making our vacation so memorable. We stayed here as a family with children and really enjoyed our stay. The kids’ club is excellent, with many games, computer games, a small cinema room, and fun activities. Our son even joined a Thai boxing class and loved it. The pools are large and have many facilities for children, the beach is beautiful, and our room was very nice and clean. A great hotel for families!

Family-friendly resort. It’s a pity that the water park (slide, kids water splash, lazy river) has limited use times. This needs to improve. Kids Club was big with 5-star staff. Breakfast was average.

Rooms were clean but small and seemed a bit rundown. Bed seem a bit worn. Breakfast was okay not the best I’ve had, staff were nice enough. Definitely family friendly great for children it’s quite isolated so it’s a lot quieter and harder to get places. Resort was beautiful but rooms definitely were rundown.

Room was great. Spacious and modern with excellent AC. Hotel grounds were well kept and pretty. Breakfast options were plentiful. We only stayed a night due to flight changes but would consider returning.

The hotel is very family friendly. The splash park is great for kids and the swim up rooms are brilliant. The buffet breakfast selection was huge and delicious, so much choice. Would definitely stay here again. Close to shops and restaurants

Most amazing hotel, my little girl loved it. The soft play was her favourite! The kids area in the swimming pool was amazing too! So much to do, we were at the end of our 4 week trip around Thailand and so we just stayed in hotel and enjoyed it for the whole week, never got bored! The food was amazing, and the sunsets at the restaurant by the beach was gorgeous! Only downside is the yoga classes are in a room next to the games room, and so for more than half of the yoga class we had to listen to kids screaming and also looking into the room, so being shy it can be off putting. A hotel we stayed in in koh Samui did their classes in the mornings by the pool outdoors early morning whilst breakfast just began, which is just a thought that maybe the hotel should consider theirs in the giant garden by the lake. My daughter loved feeding the fish! Would recommend the hotel to anyone staying in Khao Lak!

From we arrived you could the quality of The Sands, it's beautifully laid out with manicured lawns, water features and a large fish pond. We had a swim up room which was large, clean and very comfortable, the only downside of the room was that the terrace was in the shade for the majority of the day, if you want one of these rooms request one that has sun most of the day. The site is almost split in two with quieter side that had an adult only pool and family pool with bar, then the other side has a mini water park for the kids with a number slides, fun water play and a lazy river. At breakfast there's a great choice catering to all nationalities and tastes, we didn't eat at the hotel at night but speaking to people who had it sounded very good. The staff are fantastic, always polite and friendly, nothing is to much trouble. Whether you want a family holiday, with plenty to entertain the kids, or a restful time from work or touring Thailand then The Sands is a great choice
