Absolutely beautiful experience. Stayed for our honeymoon from the states. We felt so cared for. Breakfast is a must and enjoy your time. Will visit again.

I read all the reviews before I booked this hotel yet I felt very disappointed. For so many English reviews, this hotel does not have a staff that speaks English well, if at all. Only one person could really help us and the rest barely understood our needs or questions. I asked for cream for my coffee. They didn’t have it and didn’t know what I was asking for. The front desk said they would look for some….never followed up. I asked for take away breakfast the morning we had to leave early. When we arrived at the front desk at 5:30am and inquired about our take away, the person at the front desk spoke zero English and hence, no take away was ready for us upon check out. We didn’t expect a 2 level hotel room. The bathroom is downstairs and the stairs are steep leading up to the bedroom. The pillows were uncomfortable. The private bath with salts was wonderful, everything was super clean, and overall the hotel is very pretty. I love coffee but mini creamers (doesn’t take like creamer whatsoever) they provide taste like heavy plastic and chemicals. If you’re used to morning coffee with cream, you will not get this here. All the other hotels we visited in Japan ( The 1 Hotel Tokyo and the W Osaka) brought up fresh real cream to our room with our coffee. The included breakfast was honestly not good at all. We decided to cancel the rest of our included breakfast at the hotel. For over $500 US per night I really felt this hotel could’ve been so much better.

This is the nicest stay my fiance and I have ever had. The design of the rooms, the secluded street that forms part of the premises, the attention to delicate lighting, the private onsen, the fabulous culinary experience for dinner and breakfast (make sure to choose the Japanese option for a full immersive experience in the beauty of the food there), and importantly, the special attentions of the staff, their care and professionalism: all of it is perfect. Extra: lovely complimentary offerings such as a diverse beverage offer, late night snack, available relaxation room with more snacks and beverages at your disposal. All of it makes the stay magical. A special thank you to Ray who made our dinner experience so enjoyable, and to Roka who welcomed us, performed a tea tasting for us, and gave us personalized attention.

This ryokan is a must stay! Breakfast is incredible, with options between Japanese-style and Western-style. Multiple local drinks made in Kyoto are included with your room, and the service from staff cannot be beat. Our stay was highly personable. My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and deeply enjoyed our stay. Special thanks to Daichi-san, Roy-san and Kai-san!

Beautiful modern day machiya experience. The room was amazing having a private outdoor bath was a once in a lifetime experience. The restaurant was also excellent, with a very high quality of service and food quality. The staff were all very polite and helpful. We will certainly stay again!

Great place to stay. The staff is amazing and super attentive and willing to help. Nice little secluded hotel with zen like vibes. Enjoy your peace, quiet and tranquility.
